Ford Focus ST arrives in Frankfurt
Ford unveil the new Ford Focus ST performance hatchback model. For the first time, the ST will also be available as an estate model.
The new Ford Focus ST is back! Ford's performance hot hatch returns next year offering more performance and lower running costs. The hatchback will also be joined a by an estate model too.
Featuring a 2.0-litre turbocharged four cylinder engine producing 247bhp the new ST promises to be faster than the previous model whilst also being cleaner and more efficient.
In an attempt to provide buyers with a better all-rounder than the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Renaultsport Megane, the new ST features an aggressive grille and bumpers, side skirts, a rear roof spoiler and a central exit exhaust.
The ST will be available in the UK in the following colours: Tangerine Scream orange, Performance Blue, Race Red and White. Standard fit 18-inch wheels and Recaro seats complete the sporty feel.
Ford comment that the new model is 20% more efficient than the previous model, whilst a wide range of advanced chassis improvements are designed to improve handling.
The estate model will pack the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine featuring slightly tweaked suspension in order to free-up rear load space.
A Ford spokesperson commented, "We know many buyers favour the carrying capacity of a wagon, but still want the driving excitement and performance a five-door can offer.”
The Ford Focus ST will be priced around £25,000 when it arrives in the summer of 2012, the estate model will command a £1,00 premium.
