SEAT has unveiled the fastest version of the updated Ibiza supermini, called the Ibiza Cupra.
The Ibiza was recently facelifted to include a restyled bonnet, some updated headlights and a tweaked front and rear bumper. The Cupra receives all of these changes but gets an even more aggressive look, featuring hexagonal air intakes in the front bumper and a large centrally mounted exhaust.
Inside, the facelifted Ibiza Cupra gets a flat-bottomed sports steering wheel and the SEAT Portable media system. This removable touchscreen comes with sat-nav, Bluetooth audio streaming and a trip computer showing information such as fuel economy.
Under the bonnet is a 178bhp, 1.4-litre engine that is both turbocharged and supercharged. The result is strong acceleration whenever you need it and a 0-62mph time of 6.9 seconds. All Cupra models come fitted with a seven-speed automatic gearbox, too. Drivers are able to change gears using paddles mounted on the steering wheel.
The Cupra model gets lowered suspension compared to the standard Ibiza, which improves handling. There’s also something called an XDS electronic differential lock, which helps the front wheels grip in fast corners.
Buyers can order the updated SEAT Ibiza Cupra now, with prices starting from £18,825. Deliveries begin in January.
