I have now owned three protons and must say the new model savvy is very well built and finished and has a solid feel to it with unbeatable road holding, three years warranty and breakdown cover and three years servicing thrown in plus £1000 off the list price! I feel this car is vastly underated and after comparing similar priced cars feel the proton is without doubt worthy of 5 stars, nuff said!!

Without a doubt the most fun I have had in a small car. First I chose a C2 then a Fiesta and now the Savvy and it’s bags more fun, I’m glad it is so very underrated though because it means so little people are interested and I never see others on the road 10/10 from me.

The 2010 proton savvy is superior in every way compared to earlier models, faultless gear change, superberb road holding for a small car, much improved interior, excellent warranty and breakdown package, compared to other small cars in this price range i feel it is unfaily underated and pays not to be a badge snob! 10/10 from me!

This car is nice to drive, it is cheap and cheerful though so not very comfortable for long journeys. Very easy to park. The only real issue i had with this car was waiting for replacement parts to come from malyasia. Not ideal at all especially if you need a car to get to work. Parts were cheap enough but waiting at least 2 weeks. So did that twice (car still driveable) but now the drivers side lower wishbone needs doing, car not safe to drive and the proton dealer cant get me a part for at least 4-6 weeks. Not good enough! Savvy parts cant be picked up at any supplier. You need to get in touch with the main dealer.

Really can't understand the negatives towards this little car, it's been nothing short of brilliant for the price. It's a Clio D4F engine and gearbox and despite being suspicious of French electrics, no problems. Aside from general servicing, (first 4yrs,dealer,then mates garage, serviced by me) aside from the odd, inexpensive minor niggle,it's been totally reliable. Ok,it's not the most refined and the ride can be a bit choppy on rough roads, but i can think of cars costing far more that are far worse! It's a budget car that does a great job, especially around town. Motorways can get a bit noisy as it's a low geared city car, but it'll quite happily sit at 70ish and i've done 500mile round trips on the motorway and still,it doesn't use a drop of oil after 60k!! The test car gearbox was notchy, fair comment, but mine is chunky yet easy and precise. With good tyres (Hankook great) it handles and grips well for a small car. A bit plasticky inside and fuel consumption could be better for the class,(mine's improved by a K&N filter) but if you get a decent one 2nd hand you're laughing...it's the basic,A-B, bargain of the century! Only real problems (and they're minor!) rear brake shoes a bit flimsy and need manual adjustment at service and with short journeys, engine managment has flashed up a rear lambda sensor fault now and then. I've never replaced it,simply removed it,heated it up,cleaned it and cleared the fault with a reader; max 30mins, no cost and that's about it! If you get one that's been looked after, you shouldn't have a problem and identical engine parts from Renault (D4F) will be cheaper and more accessible than Proton. Unless you're a badge snob, go for it. Mine's an 07 with 60k on the clock and i doubt in the book it's worth more than a £1000! (it's worth more to me,but as i'm shortly changing jobs and doing more miles, that'll be my only reason to say goodbye to this cracking little car and i'll be treating myself to a used Jag XJ.
