Previously owned a 750iL E38, which would return 21 MPG and was very quick. When deciding which car to replace it with, I went for the 730D SE. I knew it would not be as quick, but I'm disappointed with the hesitation it has when pulling off from start. But once the car is going, it is fairly quick. I found the comfort seats no where as near as comfortable as the E38, think this is due to the head rests being so big. This car had every option available when first released late in 2008, and the car is a fantastic car to sit in and drive, very comfortable and the air cooled seats a luxury. But with hindsight I wish I had sold the car when it reached 9 years old. In the past 6 months, I have had to have a new gear box, plus other bits, costing me over £4,000. Then the integrated steering started to creek, (this would be £2k) there was a slight knocking felt on the power steering when stationary (a common complaint, but no one knows why) and then the computer that controls the DSC packed up (£1.6k). Latest fault is that the engine is smoking, there is diesel on around the injectors and oil in the radiator. Considering the car has spent most of it's life doing 70 MPH up and down the motorway, only covered 80,000 miles and when new cost over £80,000 I would have hoped it would have lasted a little bit longer! So I have recommended this car, but do not keep as it gets older

Superb to drive but very expensive to maintain. Most garges unable to service it or cope with repairs.

The V8 is slightly under power transmisson issue after 170000km brake issue transaxle issue great car overall but expensive to maintain Just bought a 2013 740LI Hope will be great

Very comfortable and the deisel engine is both powerful and economical. The rearwheel drive is excellent in normal conditions but in snow and ice it is terrible.
