Less than 5 years since new, had all services from main dealer. Less than 80,000 miles mainly on motorways or highways. Never went off roading. Very careful driver. Problems include differential oil leak, broken spring, front suspension and axle problems. Brake problems. Though this car is fun to drive but did not like problems erupting so soon. Would prefer an electric like Tesla x next. Did not like payments for connecteddrive services after 3 yrs

I left review at 18000 miles now completed 27000 still running as new. No problems, no rattles, an excellent all rounder which still feels great to drive and own. Tyre wear amazing on BF Goodrich Urban Terrains. It's the best car I have owned in 50 years of driving.

Review update - now owned for 20 months and purchased with 12000 miles. The car has now covered 30,000 miles in total. I had to replace original run flats at 18000 miles. Replaced with BF urban terrain non runflats which after 12000 miles still have 8mm tread left (started with 9mm). SE model has 18-inch wheels which are not inspiring to look at but they are comfortable and avoid the issues that X5 Msport with huge heavy run flat tyres suffer. No repairs or issues so far in the 18000 miles that I have covered, so I rate it highly for reliability. Very comfortable, very fast (particularly in sport mode) and super practical car for my dog and grandchildren. Overall this is head and shoulders above any car that I have ever owned. Very low cost of ownership considering the size and weight of this substantial SUV. I avoided main dealer servicing and take it to a local BMW specialist 20,000 mile service was £220 as a 40,000 mile service at BMW main dealers will be around £440. Road tax under £200 - Insurance (for me) £450 ish a little higher than average SUV. MPG 35 in economy mode 32 in comfort (stop start switched off) 29 in sport mode these are achieved with 10 mile trips with a light right foot. If you like large powerful SUVs with a touch of prestige then I personally would recommend this car. It's a shame diesels are going to be a thing of the past as BMW perfected the diesel engine. Mot note - emissions are too low to record a reading. Mot tester remarked that the BMW six cylinder diesels are the cleanest running out there. I am super impressed with this car on so many levels.
