Ford Fiesta ST hatchback (2013-2017) - Reliability & safety
The Ford Fiesta ST is based on UK’s best-selling car, so should be no less reliable than the standard Fiesta
It’s in the UK’s best-selling car range and is built by the UK’s biggest-selling car manufacturer, but the Ford Fiesta posts average results in our Driver Power customer satisfaction survey. It has better safety credentials, though, getting a full five-star rating from Euro NCAP.
Ford Fiesta ST reliability
Although the Fiesta ST hasn’t been specifically featured, the main Ford Fiesta range came 50th out of 75 cars covered in our 2017 Driver Power survey. Customers rated the Fiesta just below average almost across the board, although the engines, gearboxes, ride and handling all came in for praise. And, despite a lacklustre showing for reliability and quality, only 4.7% of Fiesta owners reported one or more faults within the first year of ownership.
Safety
Just like every other Fiesta, the ST comes with seven airbags, electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes, all of which helped it achieve five stars when it was crash-tested by Euro NCAP in 2012. The ST’s brakes are also more powerful than the brakes fitted to the rest of the range, for added stopping power. he latest advances in safety technology including autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and lane-departure warning aren’t available for the ST, but will be coming in the next model.
