Problems so far: Air Conditioning (twice), Corrosion of alloy wheels, Drivers door handle not operative. Constant blowing of interior light. Battery not holding it's charge, (replaced after 2.5 years from new) Auto transmission juddering at certain speed. Numerous faults with ESP. Servicing costs at Hyundai dealership can be high.

It great i liked the last 1 so much i bought the same car again and i`ve never don`t that before. Great value, reliability, comfort. Only 1 other car comes close and thats the cee`d but hyundai warranty is better.

The car is almost 7years old and has had all recommended servicing etc. until recently at 37,500 miles when the intermittent warning light came on. Up until then I loved the car and could find no serious fault with it. However a diagnostic check resulted in being advised I needed a new dashboard cluster, and on reading other reviews I see that has been quite a common fault. The dealer priced this job in excess of £1000 and would not tell me what the result would be if I didn't have this done. I have driven all sorts of cars for the last 60 years, some doing well in excess of 100,000 miles when I was working, and never, ever, have I come across this problem, making me assume it is peculiar to Hyundai and should be sorted by them, but they refuse point blank to have anything to do with it, citing the car's age. I maintain it must be a manufacturing fault. Rightly or wrongly it has sickened me with the car, especially as I learned how low its resale value is, and consequently I have put my daughter off buying a new one for herself and would not be recommending it to anyone, something I would not have said 3 months ago.

I bought this car from a Hyundai dealership. Up until last week I had very few issues. It was also serviced by the dealer for 3 of the last 4 years. It has only 70,000 miles. Last week there was a loud bang which I have subsequently found out was one of the pistons smashing off the top of the engine, shattering and destroying the engine! I'm still paying it off on HP till next March! I've never had a car do this before let alone one which is only 6 years old. I don't know how I could trust a Hyundai ever again.

A good car overall. Lacks a few features that were standard on the previous car such as auto lights and wipers and all round powwer windows. Not as economical as literature states.

The car is very practical. It gives good performance for a small engined family car and is spacious. It has 108 bhp which is a lot more than my old seat leon. The extras on my car are fantastic given the price.Folding Mirrors, esp, full ipod usage through stereo, electric sunroof.I Could go on. The car is reliable but i find the clutch very difficult to get used to and other people have noticed this too. The car has a few niggling rattles that seem to come from the dashboard and speaker areas but thats it. I sometimes get a petrol smell when starting it up but i'm told thats normal. I don't like how the air con comes on automatically but for the price paid and the warranty the car is an absolute bargain. I look at other cars and the extras offered are pretty poor compared to my car.

Reliable and comfortable. Well engineered and capable of withstanding the uk's poor roads. Economical and relatively inexpensive compared to the other reviewers' favourites. Don't be brandwashed its just a car. 5 year unlimited mileage warranty, do you get that with a golf?

I believe the hyundai i30 is one of the most underrated cars on the road. Indeed as a car manufacturer, hyundai offer the best cars for reliability, excellent design and are unique as well as individual. I am not in any way influenced by the kudos or mythical properties of a "badge" and hyundai does not have to try to be the best, it is the best, hyundai leads while other car manufacturer's follow.

Great for the money, does every as well as you'd need if not want. Would be hard pressed to justify a more expensive manufacture over hyundai. Only issue is the lack of feel when driving.

I have been pleased with the i30 diesel estate. To date nothing has gone wrong and it has met every expectation. Outstanding value compared to my previous11 yr old renault megane saloon and cheaper new than the previous car was 11 years ago.

Worst hyundai ihave owned in 11years. They used to be bullet proof. Last repair garage had car for 1month and i contacted hyundai Customer services in sept. 2010 still waiting for a reply

Bought this car from a Hyundai dealer, it was 12 months old. It had 11,000 miles on the clock. I bought this car because the family wanted a family size automatic car. I noticed that the car was diesel, so better MPG over the petrol version. My first impressions were as follows: a responsive car, with plenty of power for overtaking. The seats were comfortable, and the car had a five year warranty from new. It's styling was up to date, and had many extras in the car, including a spare wheel. The headlights are good. The MPG was between about 38 to 45 depending if used for urban roads or motorway. The car was serviced at the main dealer, and prices are about average for this size of car. Now for the problems: When starting off at a junction and you put your "foot down" there is a slight lag, between moving off, this is dangerous. The front seating position is low, and my wife has problems getting in and out of the car. I scrape my knees on the steering wheel when getting into and out of the car. It wasn't until I had owned the car a few years I realised that the car service book was not for my car, but for a petrol automatic, and therefore it said in the book that the service interval was 12 months or 12,000 miles, it should have said 12 months or 20,000 miles between services. I will briefly go through the faults that I can remember. 1. The battery wanted replacing just after 2 years when the warranty has expired 2. The drivers door was locked & wouldn't open. 3.The dashboard had to be replaced. 4. The nearside headlamp wire loom had to be replaced. 5.There was hesitation in the auto gearbox when travelling at 30pmh- Fixed 6. Aircon not working-fixed 7. The glow plugs had to be replaced. (twice) 8.The car's engine stopped whist moving in traffic- dangerous, dealer unable to find fault. 9. Car refused to start first time. Dealer eventually fixed. 10 Fuel cap did not open. Fixed So what do you think about this car? Depreciation is poor. I shall NOT be buying a Hyundai again for obvious reasons.

I bought this car on the many good reviews at the time. We also wanted an automatic gearbox, and found that Hyundai did a 1.6 diesel engine. I purchased the car from a local Hyundai franchised dealer, and the car had done about 11K miles, and was 12 months old. That was the good part, from then on things started to get worse. After delivery I found that the air con was not working, and the radiation expansion tank was below the "low" mark. I later found that they had supplied me with the wrong service book, which stated that the car was supposed to be serviced every 12 months or 12K miles. I later found out that this should be 12 months or 20K miles - whichever occurred sooner. One of the first things to go wrong was that the driver's door. It would open, then the dash instrumentation was not working correctly. The nearside headlamp bulb kept blowing. The headlight wiring loom was at fault. The alloy wheels on delivery were badly corroded. The car had just passed its MOT and a couple of days later, there was a squealing nose from the back brakes. As the car was some distance from home, it was taken to a local garage, and they found that the rear brake pads had worn down to the metal, the brake rotor and pads had to be replaced. The battery died on me about 25 months from new and was NOT covered under the five year warranty. The automatic gearbox seemed hesitant at 30 mph. If the car was stationary, and you needed to get a quick get away, forget about it, the engine did not respond for about half a second, which sometimes could be dangerous. Starting became more difficult from cold, and it took the dealer 3 weeks to replace the glow plugs. One evening when the car was travelling in traffic, the engine suddenly cut out, but after a few tries at starting the engine, it fired up. Could have been very dangerous if this had occurred on the motorway. I was thinking of selling the car, but the dealer would only offer me peanuts, and later found out about £1k below the trade value. Hopefully things have now been sorted out, but I am not keeping my fingers crossed and the car is now out of the 5 year warranty. I wish I had never come across this firm, and the car.

Before I got the i30 I had a Hyundai Getz and it was a great little car. The i30 is just as great it's very easy to drive and handles great. The interior is very easy to work and there's plenty of space in the back. The dealers were the best I have ever dealt with. If I had one complaint it would be about fuel economy short journeys kill its mpg. But after a longer journey I managed 44+ mpg which I excellent for a car this size with just a 1.4 petrol engine. While on the subject of the engine it is very quick and nippy and has a great sound to it. This is a great car .

An excellent car with good performance from the 1600cc petrol engine. However, i am quite dissapointed in the fuel econpmy for a modern car. The actual mpg is frar below the company's claimed figures. The driver's door inner panel seems to be suseptable to marks. Auto gearbox is very smooth but can get caught out a crawling slow speeds resulting in a jerk.

A good car for the price. Good specification with certain exceptions,eg un- heated door mirrors. Blue instrument lighting not to my liking but this is a personal taste. Worst feature by far is the notchy gearshift. Sometimes it takes a real effort to select first gear and i think i shall have to return to the dealer for possible adjustment. My previous car was a 53 plate honda civic with a beautiful gearshift.

Very well built, completely reliable, nice to drive, excellent gear change brakes and steering. Handles well, feels safe, nippy around town but slightly gutless on the motorway. A lot of equipment for the money, and it all works really well. Even the audio system is better than i expected. Definitely a very good buy, and i'm well pleased with my i30.
