An absolutely stunning performance SUV bargain describes this car very well and it seems others have realised the same if the other reviews are anything to go by. Fortunately I ignored the blinkered/biased UK motoring press reviews, which just slated this car for no other reason than it wasn't manufactured in Germany and this can only be a positive when our roads are literally littered with German cars.
I like my cars, change them very often and the QX70is the first car I have owned in many years that I don't want to replace. Not only has it far exceeded my expectations but it has also been utterly reliable. This car has it all as Infiniti really went to town with the specification and it still feels like a modern car despite having been launched back in 2008 as the FX, yet most people don't know what it is.
The standard specification of my S Premium model will make your draw drop and I particularly like the adaptive cruise, which will follow the car in front to a complete stop and then move off again if the car in front also moves within so many seconds, which is great for the motorway commute. The seats are fantastic, very well padded, obviously powered and have 18-way adjustments on the drivers side, which includes powered bolsters for the seat base and back, memory (including steering wheel/mirrors/keyless entry), heating and ventilation. That kind of sums up the difference between the QX and the German competition as everything is standard on the former and optional on the latter plus you benefit from Japanese reliability, and build quality.
The 3.0D makes perfect sense in a car of this size and you really do notice the 405 lbft, which is produced very low down at something like 1600 rpm but I decided to have my car remapped, which has taken it to something like 280 bhp and 450 lbft (the 3.0D has a pretty large turbo) and transformed the way it drives. The 3.0D also benefits from a 7th injector in the exhaust dedicated to the DPF, which can regenerate independently of engine speed, even at idle, which means it's also suitable for shorter drives too.
The V6 diesel may not be the sportiest choice but it works incredibly well in partnership with the very smooth 7 speed auto plus you have a sports mode and column mounted magnesium shifter paddles if you're after a little more control/fun. Got to love the rev matching downshifts on a diesel suv!
The QX70, no matter the specification, is definitely aimed towards the enthusiast (yes we drive suv's too) given the 370Z/GT-R platform, 100 RWD biased AWD, front midship engine location (hence the long bonnet), aluminium doors/bonnet and that wide track. Go for the S Premium if you want the ultimate FX/QX70 as that gives you 21" alloys, adaptive dampers, active electronic rear wheel steering, which is very noticeable when pressing on, sports seats and an anthracite headliner on top of the already immense standard specification.
I've had my QX for almost two years now and I still look forward to every drive no matter how mundane plus it's the only car I have owned longer than a year! Go try one but don't spread the word as this is the most exclusive car I have ever owned and I would like to keep it that way.

I wanted a safe, reliable SUV that was a bit different and could handle a good drive in the country. After a fair bit of research and a couple of test drives all the figures and fun pointed to the QX70. It was always a bit of a risk committing to such a big lump with such little known about the car but after the 6 months of ownership we just can't stop gushing about how great it is to drive.
Yes it is wide and that does cause you to hug the gutter perhaps a little closer than you would otherwise like at speed but all this does is illustrate how well it corners. The huge tyres grip so that I still haven't heard so much as a squeak out of them and the rear wheel steering means the long slip road peel offs at speed are effortless. For a car that weighs what it does to drive as well as it does points to some pretty nifty Japanese engineering and know how.
Just look at the Nissan Skyline and then add a dash of the Nissan Patrol and you have one of the best performing SUV's money can buy. Fingers crossed for the reliability but I'd rather rely on a Nissan than some other SUV makers out there at the moment.

Probably the best car I have ever owned. Solid reliability, easy to maintain. Superb dealer backup.
Fantastic car to drive, only slight downside is width. Can be a bit wide for tight parking spaces

An excellent car in all respects. Very comfortable, reliable and individual. I cannot tare this car highly enough, and two friends have since bought one after my recommendation and driving mine. It's rarer than any other SUV, and with a great local dealership I could not be happier.

I had a Porsche for the last eight years which was a good car, but I fancied a change. I tried the usual Mercedes. Audi Q7, BMW X6 and Range Rover models, but I found all were lacking until I tried the Infiniti. In a word, I think it's stunning. I bought it straight after a 2-hour test drive. It's also a very rare car, but the downside is that it gets a lot of attention.

In short, this car is faster than the Cayenne Turbo in a straight line and sounds better doing it. Has better results in the quarter mile, and also in the slalom. With regards to performance, it's simply a better car. And for less than half the price, it's extraordinary value. It's cost to fuel is irrelevant, as its xap priced servicing is a fraction of the cost to maintain a Euro Chelsea tractor, and parts are also far cheaper. Not that you'll be buying parts, this is the most rock solid and reliable sports suv on the road. Luggage space is sufficient, if not get yourself a slimline roof box for long trips, the bold styling and swooping roofline is a fair trade for 50L of storage, did anyone mention the full sized spare tire/wheel? The ride is firm, because you'll want it to be. It's a sports car, it engsges you in the drive, you're a part of the car; unlike others wherein you're driving a mobile couch. This is purely, a vehicle that is expected to be driven, and hard! Best care I've ever owned! Absolutely love it, coincidently every QX70 owner says the same thing.

This is my second Infiniti, my QX70 replaced an FX30d I had first. This is a fantastic car because it's so reliable, has a huge spec, it's amazing to drive and looks great. These cars were £52k new, you can pick up good second hand ones for less than half that and it will last forever.

An absolute hidden gem. I'm on my second now and I cannot rate it highly enough. It's a second-hand bargain and you get so much car for the money. The reviews tend to criticise it for tyre noise, harsh suspension, poor ride and handling yet I haven’t experienced any of that. Yes this car has its faults next to the latest offerings from the competition but look at it in isolation and it’s one of the best SUVs available and at a far lower price.
