Best car leasing deals 2024: this week’s top PCH offers

Our experts sift through the best car lease deals to save you money, and this week’s supermini special features new offers from MG, Renault and Suzuki

MG3 front handling

When leasing a new car the sheer number of deals, payment terms and deals can seem almost overwhelming. That’s why our team of car experts keep an eye on the latest trends and only pick out the car leases with the biggest discounts on the best models. We also check the terms and conditions to make sure there are no surprises like stinging admin fees or excessive initial rental payments.

Our new choices for this week’s round-up of the best leasing deals include the efficient MG3 hybrid for £190 a month, the stylish Renault Clio for £164 and the fun-to-drive Suzuki Swift for £172 a month.

Before signing on the dotted line, you’ll want to understand exactly how a leasing deal (also known as PCH) works, and how it differs from Personal Control Purchase (PCP) finance and Hire Purchase (HP). In its most basic terms, think of PCH as akin to renting the car on a long-term basis, while PCP allows you to pay off a car in instalments before deciding whether to buy it outright with a balloon payment or handing it back at the end of the term. Hire Purchase is more like a mortgage, where you pay monthly instalments until you own the car outright.

Along with cash purchases, these are the main methods of buying a new car in the UK, and the Carbuyer team also picks out the week’s best PCP car deals, along with some of our favourite used car deals of the week. A PCH deal is enticing thanks to its affordable prices, giving you access to new cars with very little hassle, but there’s typically no opportunity to own the car at the end of the term.

Best new car leasing deals – latest deals updated 19th December 2024

MG3: £190 a month

MG3 rear handling

With its punchy 1.5-litre petrol hybrid system, the MG3 is as efficient as it is fun to drive, while it also features a well-equipped interior and to sweeten the deal. We’re not huge fans of the uninspiring interior design, and the driving position can feel a little awkward for taller drivers, but as a simple, easy-to-use small hatch it’s well worth considering.

About this lease deal…
  • Monthly payments: £190.49
  • Initial payment: £2,534.88
  • Fees: £0
  • Mileage limit: 5,000
  • List price: £20,495

The MG3’s 1.5-litre hybrid engine produces an impressive 191bhp, which means it’s able to dispatch the 0-62mph benchmark in eight seconds flat. But it also provides strong economy too; we saw more than 50mpg during our own in-town driving, while fuel economy crept over the 60mpg mark on motorway journeys. The Trophy specification brings extra niceties, including keyless entry and start, leather style upholstery, a heating function for the front seats and steering wheel, a 360-degree camera and rear privacy glass.

Renault Clio: £164 a month

Renault Clio UK front handling

The Renault Clio remains one of the best superminis you can buy. It feels as refined as larger hatches, with good interior quality and decent levels of equipment. We think it looks rather handsome, too. A class-leading boot space and an excellent Euro NCAP safety rating round off a top notch supermini package.

About this lease deal…
  • Monthly payments: £163.96
  • Initial payment: £1,775.63
  • Fees: £0
  • Mileage limit: 5,000
  • List price: £18,595

With 89bhp, the Clio 1.0-litre petrol model isn’t the last word in performance, but that would be missing the point of this great little hatchback. 0-62mph takes 12.2 seconds, although it feels quicker out on the road than that figure suggests. During our own test we found the Clio fine on winding B roads, and even uphill, the small but spirited engine seemed very capable. Overall claimed fuel economy is an impressive 54.3mpg, while the entry Evolution trim level features 16-inch alloys, rear parking sensors, cruise control, automatic air conditioning, and a seven-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Suzuki Swift: £172 a month

Suzuki Swift UK front cornering

The Suzuki Swift is a comfortable small five-door hatchback that offers decent fuel economy thanks to mild-hybrid tech. Its focus on value is exposed by a rather cheap feeling interior, and boot space isn’t the greatest. Suzuki has made a recent attempt to update the Swift’s infotainment system, but it remains behind the curve compared to rivals. There is a strong list of standard equipment, however.

About this lease deal…
  • Monthly payments: £171.80
  • Initial payment: £2,310.60
  • Fees: £0
  • Mileage limit: 5,000
  • List price: £19,199

Suzuki claims you should see average (WLTP) fuel economy of up to 64.2mpg, which is seriously impressive. The payoff is that the Swift doesn’t offer much in the way of performance; 0-62mph taking a lethargic 12.5 seconds. A generous level of standard kit helps to balance things out, and includes 16-inch alloys, rear privacy glass, rear parking sensors, keyless entry and start, adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, and a nine-inch infotainment display with integrated navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Peugeot 3008: £222 a month

Peugeot 3008 rear driving

The Peugeot 3008 offers plenty of quality with a striking exterior design and impressive materials in use throughout the cabin. The 21-inch curved display is a standout feature, while the hybrid powertrain provides decent fuel economy either in-town or at a motorway cruise. There’s a big 588-litre boot too, which adds to it the 3008’s family car credentials.

About this lease deal…
  • Monthly payments: £222.01
  • Initial payment: £2,958.12
  • Fees: £0
  • Mileage limit: 5,000
  • List price: £35,660

Peugeot offers the 3008 in either Allure or GT specification, which means there’s not really a regular entry trim level. All cars are well equipped, with the Allure coming with 19-inch alloys, body-coloured accents, rear privacy glass, keyless entry, a reversing camera, dual-zone climate control, wireless smartphone charging, and Peugeot’s i-Connect Advanced infotainment system with connected navigation and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Kia Sportage: £265 a month

Kia Sportage driving

If you’re after a supremely capable family SUV then the ever-popular Kia Sportage is a good starting point. Sharp design, good levels of technology and lots of space mean the Sportage really is a great all-rounder that offers little in the way of compromise. Equally adept at managing urban duties or longer motorway trips, it’s a car that we can easily recommend.

About this lease deal…
  • Monthly payments: £265.00
  • Initial payment: £3,479.99
  • Fees: £0
  • Mileage limit: 5,000
  • List price: £35,985

The Sportage petrol hybrid model offers the best of both worlds, with decent performance and strong efficiency. 0-62mph is taken care of in 8.4 seconds, while Kia claims overall fuel economy (WLTP combined) of almost 50mpg. Standard equipment for GT-Line cars includes 18-inch alloys, front and rear parking sensors, smart cruise control, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, leather/suede upholstery and a 12.3-inch display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Tesla Model Y: £379 a month

Tesla Model Y

With Tesla leasing deals becoming ever more competitive, now could be the right time to do a deal. If you’re a fan of the Tesla brand and are prioritising space and practicality, then the Model Y is a great option. Some customers have reported sub-standard build quality in the past, and we found the ride to be overly firm during our own test – so we’d advise organising a test drive before you take the plunge, to make sure the Model Y is right for you.

About this lease deal…
  • Monthly payments: £379.33
  • Initial payment: £4,845.96
  • Fees: £0
  • Mileage limit: 5,000
  • List price: £51,990

With up to 331 miles of range from a full charge, plus the backup of Tesla’s Supercharger network, you should find the Model Y easy to own and run. Strong performance (0-62mph takes just 4.8 seconds) adds another string to its bow, while this five-seat model features 19-inch alloys, power-adjustable front seats, heated seats all-round, a glass roof, power-folding door mirrors, smartphone docks, and even a medical-grade air filter.

Hyundai Ioniq 5: £293 a month

Hyundai Ioniq 5 front cornering

Stylish, practical and, in this 84kWh form, offering a claimed maximum range of up to 354 miles, the Ioniq 5 makes a great family or business choice. In fact, we made it our Best Family Electric Car and Best Company Car at the 2022 Carbuyer awards. Its futuristic look may not be to everyone’s taste, but it does stand out in an increasingly crowded marketplace which, we think, adds to its overall appeal.

About this lease deal…
  • Monthly payments: £292.80
  • Initial payment: £3,813.60
  • Fees: £0
  • Mileage limit: 5,000
  • List price: £43,400

The Ioniq 5 model offered in this deal comes in the Advance trim level, which means you’ll benefit from luxury touches such as heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control and a 12.3-inch touchscreen display. And, with 225bhp from its single electric motor, the rear-wheel drive Ioniq 5 manages 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds. Practicality is good, too, with clever features such as sliding rear seats and a 57-litre front boot or ‘frunk’.
