Best car I have owned - you can cruise at 80 mph on the motorway and it will do 50mpg. 90mph is less than 2000 revs -the car is comfortable in 7th gear- also get between 45-55mpg on my drive to work along back roads - would recommend you get the facelift model which I have from 2013 onwards has all the extras you need, 200bhp means you can shift when needed - the auto moves through the gears v smoothly and in sport mode is fun to drive. This is one of the best convertibles you can buy my favourite is the headscarf system on a colder day.

Absolutely love this car. Bought new 4 months ago and everything mechanical and electrical works as it should. The finish is great both inside and outside and I think it looks fantastic in palladium silver paintwork and alpaca grey leather interior. My only quibbles are with the metallic silver strip in the doorwell which is prone to scratching simply by getting in and out of the car, and the low profile diamond-cut alloy wheels which look good but are expensive to repair if kerbed and scratched.

This is my third Mercedes and loved them all especially the E class. Smooth ride, excellent mpg and looks stunning. Boot space the only issue but that was a price I was prepared to accept being a convertible.

I've only had the car for a month and love driving with the hood down. It is loaded with standard equipment and is great to drive. My fault but I didn't check the boot capacity with roof down - very limited. A few niggles: The COMAND system is complicated, can't find a way to turn up the sat nav volume which can't be heard if the CD is playing loud. The door mirrors don't appear to be able to dip down when reversing unlike my previous BMW 330. The fuel consumption thus far is a little disappointing - only 39mpg on a 50m motorway trip, but my previous C220 coupe with same engine would be 50 mpg on the same run. The garagesay the engine is still tight. It also changes up very late, changes up into 7th gear at around 65 mph? Watch this space. My main gripe is a bad rattle in the boot that appears to be the luggage cover gas struts. Mercedes have changed them once to no avail. Is this a common problem ? The doors have intermittent rattles and squeaks too, one expects some scuttle shake on a convertible but not such annoying rattles on a car costing well over £40k. The ride is better than I anticipated with AMG suspension and 18" wheels. Airscarf and heated seats are great. I do love the car and it looks lovely.

Absolutely love this car.....Fun to drive, great to look at and surprisingly efficient. You really can't beat the class of the Mercedes over the BMW and Audi.

We had a 2010 version of this car and having tried an Audi A6 Allroad went back to Mercedes. The engine is so sweet, the gearbox a dream - no lag like the Audi and the drive so much more involving. The seats are superb for my back

This is a terrific car. It is fantastically equipped even though it's the 220cdi, the mileage is very good compared to a Beemer, the gearbox is always smooth changing up, when the car is in sport mode, it is a properly quick car, it is very refined even with the roof down thanks to the wind deflector and aircap system and last but not least the seats are very comfortable.

I bought this car from a main dealer as part of the approved used scheme. I have previously owned seven Mercedes, but switched to another brand as the last two had frequent reliability problems. However, I love the way Mercedes drive so decided to give the brand another chance. It proved to be an expensive mistake. First thing the good points. The car is very nice to drive. It is comfortable, smooth, and fast. Now the bad points. Spec. For such an expensive car, the equipment level is pretty poor. Sat Nav does not take full post-codes, interface is not the most intuitive, phone system would not upload my address book , no DAB radio, does not take SD cards. You could say it is the age of the car, but my Skoda is a similar age, half the price, and does all of these things. Very poor economy for a diesel. This is my 4th 6-cylinder diesel Mercedes. Although this is smoother and faster than it's predecessors, MPG is worse. I had a CLK 320cdi, which was a similar size car with a 3 litre V6. On a run, it regularly achieved over 50mpg. The e-class cabriolet rarely achieves 40mpg under the same driving conditions. Build quality: quite a lot of interior creaks and rattles, although I understand is is common with all soft-tops. Reliability. This is what really annoys me. In a year of ownership it has had to go back to the dealer five times!!! Even though it came with an Approved Mercedes warranty, only two of the five problems were covered, which led to big bills. By comparison, I have also owned a Skoda Superb (similar age) for four years, during which time it has gone back to the dealer only once. The faults have been: 1) water building up inside the doors due to blocked drainage channels 2) Not being able to put the steering on full lock. 3) Parking brake getting stuck (in the on position) 4) Most of the braking system needing replacing due to corrosion 5) Wind deflector getting suck in the raised position In addition to this car visiting the garage regularly, whenever it does the costs of fixing the problem are really expensive. Much as I love the way Mercedes drive, I think this car has finally made up my mind not to have another one.

Bought this car new. Chose it because of its looks and because I had had problems with my previous Audi and wanted an even more reliable car brand! Big mistake. Within a week lots of rattles from the dashboard. After its first service there was an awful squeak from the dash. Brought it back, the fixed saying there was a grommet missing. 18 months in the passenger door level disconnected from the mechanism. I had to let the wife out. They fixed it. Two weeks later it broke again. The fixed it saying that it had been installed upside-down when built and had mistakingly put it back the same wrong way. This time they had done it right. About 3 months later the hood opening mechanism started making a loud clunk sound when opening. They re-calibrated it and it was fixed. Couple of months later unbelievably the driver side door handle had the same problem. I had to open the window to open the door when arriving anywhere! Remember each if the above meant me booking my car in and disrupting my working day. Finally about 2 months ago when 100 miles or so from home when driving home the engine lost all power and went into 'limp mode'. Ended up on the back of a flat bed. Apparently the air supply hoses to the turbo chargers collapsed and had to be changed. I'm told these problems as common since they started building the cars in the states. I don't know all I know is this is a dreadful car. Avoid!

This is a fantastic car. Sharp looking and fantastically equipped. The gearbox (7spd automatic) changes brilliantly. The 2.1 litre diesel with 170 PS delivers 48mpg on the motorway and 30mpg in town, which is not bad compared to a BMW 4 series. The only downside is that the air deflector on top of the windscreen makes an annoying noise.

fantastic car, I cant get my wife out of it,This is Mercedes at its best, the only thing it does not do is make you a cup of tea. Apart from that it pretty much does everything else. The kick down on this 220 cdi will throw you back in your seat, so if you want more G Force go for the 350. The 220 does it for my wife. Love the paddles for sport driving Formula One tech. To have an opinion on these cars you need to own one, not listen to car reviews, they only drive them for a week. Fantastic car.

The Mercedes E350 Bluetec Cabriolet is the first diesel I've owned and I absolutely love it. In the real world, I get 27mpg in urban driving and 45mpg on the motorway, both in Economy mode. On the odd occasion I need to overtake quickly, the car is seriously rapid, so I don't bother with Sport+ mode. The ride is firm-ish even with electronic active dampers, but it's assured when cornering and the brakes are very good and progressive. The engine sounds smooth and quiet for a diesel and the intelligent headlamps are phenomenal. They turn in the direction you're heading and cut out the shape on oncoming traffic so you don't dazzle drivers. I've done two long journeys so far and have arrived relaxed and unstressed. The Aircap system works brilliantly with the roof down, and the Airscarf really does keep your neck warm if the wind chills you on a sunny day. Some car reviewers say the E350 isn't this or that compared to the driver-focused BMW 4 Series, but to notice any difference, you'd have to be breaking the speed limit, putting others in danger. At normal and even brisk speeds, the E350 is way more car than anyone could possibly need within the law, and it can shift with the best of them if needed. Would highly recommend to anyone! Who knew a diesel car could look so good and drive so well?
What's the one thing you like most about your car?
It has the looks and all the performance I could need, but now I have decent fuel economy during this cost of living crisis.
If you could improve one thing, what would it be?
I miss the throaty roar of an Mercedes-AMG E63, but for a few hundred quid, there's an aftermarket exhaust I can get which is near enough as good. To be honest, after a few months I've forgotten all about it, so I doubt I'll bother now – my car's more than good enough as it is.

We bought this car we loved it because it looked fantastic on its 19 inch wheels. We loved it, but things have started to get annoying. The roof seal allows the odd drip of water in when it's raining, the rear seat room and bootspace are too limited, too. But the biggest joke has been the paintwork. It has micro blisters all over and Mercedes are not interested. I've now sold it and back to a BMW

Mercedes E400 AMG Line Cabriolet. 2015. Class. Outstanding. Has it all. Owned loads of Mercs over the years. Had big reservations about practicalities of running a convertible with a family. Needn't have worried with this one. Four seats with space for all. Powerful, smooth, petrol engine. Well equipped. Looks stunning with roof up as well as down. Does the lot and even the boot is surprisingly accommodating if you use your loaf. With the air-scarf and conditioning, open-top motoring is a pleasure all year round under clear skies - even in the UK’s claustrophobic traffic. And the Harman-Kadon can drown any back seat Moaner-in-Law. Ignore what some of the Boy-racer, "expert" media reviewers write about “handling” and “sportiness”. This will wup the butt off most on a long, demanding, cross-continent blast as well as providing ultimate composure on short, cross-country trips. Best advice I can give to anyone is if they're in the market for a decent-sized, 4-seat convertible, snaffle this model up as dealers reduce their prices before the next versions arrive with souped-up vents at an inflated premium. It could prove to be a classic.

I went for the E250 as the E220 seemed underpowered, and the E350 too expensive. This is my first automatic, and it responds very well when you put your foot down. I hardly use the manual gear change as it revs the engine and sucks juice. I don't much like the diesel sound when the car is at low speed, but overall I love the car. Driving with the top down on a sunny day is one of life's pleasures.

Like the look and style of this car - bit of a lag when you put your foot down though. The really shocking thing was 4 new tyres after 10k miles - £1300! Ouch! Apparently the tracking can be thrown off by bumps in the road - so short of having the tracking checked every week it's clearly not built for British roads!! Never had this problem with the Mini I owned previously - be interested to know if other people have experienced similar problems?
