It's the second Outlander we have owned, and this is the last of the previous model in 2013, loaded with all the extras like camera, SatNav etc. We bought the car for practicality, it has a huge boot to carry our camping gear, and useful 3rd row seats for taking kids to football etc. The engine is the 2.3 Litre 185BHP Peugeot unit and it pulls strongly and is economical. We can easily get 45+mpg on motorways. Having owned these cars for @5 years, I would say the main issues are the build quality, particularly the interior trim - bits of plastic start to fall off fairly early on, particularly at foot level (seat footing trim, boot trim etc). Also we have had clutch problems with both models, with slipping in 3rd and 4th gear. We also had issues with the Kenwood SatNav unit installed, which was replaced under warranty. On paper it is a great car for the money, and offers LR Discovery space, for Mondeo money. The 4WD works well in snow (providing you fit winter tyres), but it is let down by the build quality particularly the interior, which is a bit cheap.. I think our next car will be a Nissan X-Trail or an Audi Q5, as both offer similar space, but are put together using better materials.

Good car, little thirsty, lots of handy extras like Bluetooth and cruise control, spacious inside seats are extremely comfortable. Have owned from new and only a fuel filter problem paid for by Mitsubishi. Do 600 mile long distance trips several times a year with no backache so no issues with comfort. Would recommend to a friend. I use it off road too with non standard tyres and it performs very well. Dashboard is a little boring but all round good family car.

Issue with Fuel Fitter, Had to be replaced. Dealer knows about issue and all new cars have new filter, all cars Pre-2012 will only get replaced when there is an issue. Issue occurs when Temp is very cold and filter clogs, results in engine light warning.

We wanted a car that was as good as our outgoing smax in providing space for our gsd's dog cage/ space for grandchildren/a good turing vehicle for us in retirement with the addition of selectable 4wd capability & a spare wheel(albeit a spacesaver). This revised outlander provides all of those requirements in addition to much better manouverbilty. Its off road ability in the snow before christmas delighted me, it compared favorably to shoguns & discoveries i have preivously driven,it took a long time to find a vehicle that matched our template but this has & more.

Got the car recently and have to say it is impressive. Having gone from a SEAT FreeTrack diesel to this huge thing. I was expecting worse MPG but hoping it would be close to matching it. The SEAT would average 32 MPG in day to day use and about 36MPG on a run. From day one of owing the Outlander we seem to be getting 40MPG + and recently on a run the first 80 miles averaged 45MPG. I know all of the manufacturers claims are not realistic so ignore them to be honest. The increase in MPG has been impressive. The down sides? OK the stereo is awkward to get used to and the 40GB hard drive is redundant as I am not loading one CD at a time to store music. But Bluetooth via my phone and it is ace. Sound quality is good too. As for noise the car is no louder than the SEAT was and a bit of wind noise on the motorway is to be expected but no worse than the SEAT was too. For what it is I would say if you want an SUV for towing a caravan or need it for loads of space it is great. Interior build quality is typical Japanese with plastic for some of it and nice leather/vinyl covered areas too. Nothing spectacular but it all works and thats the thing. It may not have character (the SEAT had loads of that and loads of fault codes too) but it feels like it will not let you down and will just keep going.

Owned this vehicle from new. It has had the following faults over the last six years. Two major oil leaks, one a faulty gasket the other a cracked oil filter housing. Two different wheel sensor failures. Alternator failed at 30,000 miles. And now a gear box issue, it will only go into fifth or sixth gear. It has only done 50,000 miles. It is not reliable. As it has broken down in different areas I now know various garages I can take it to. Mpg is around 41. It tows well. Is comfortable to drive. However it is the most unreliable vehicle I've owned in 43 years of driving.
