“The Renault Grand Scenic is a great-value people carrier and it’s good to drive, but it’s not as practical as most rivals.”

Lovely car that had every bell and whistle that Renault had to offer, but too many electrical gremlins. It told me I had braking issues on every trip when I went round left hand bends, and also developed a common rail fault within 7 months of ownership. But it was absolutely lovely to drive.

We have had our Grand Scenic since new and have just sold her as we are buying our third brand new one.
This 2009 model has been excellent, 100% reliable, fun to drive and great to get all the family in.
This model was high spec at a very good price and we received a fairly good figure on selling.
Look forward to receiving our new one. Would highly recommend this vehicle.

This is the perfect car for me. I have had a stroke so my left arm needs the electronic hand brake, light steering and plenty of room to get in and out. It cruises down the motorway, a real easy drive, will be purchasing my next Renault shortly.

Exactly what we needed. The practicality of the 7 seats is great, storage bins etc are excellent. The drive and comfort is much improved compared to the Scenic 2, which also gave us a relatively hassle-free 120k miles. Not a single problem so far, and servicing reasonable at our local Renault dealer.
Well done Renault, you have created a better version of an already great car, that we didn't think could be anymore practical. Much quieter and more refined than the previous 1.9 dCi. Seating comfortable, controls fairly easy to use once you get your head around them. Fully loaded with options - hands-free card with electric folding mirrors, cruise control with speed limiter, auto lights and wipers, half leather, upgraded alloys and a Bose stereo all make it a pleasure to own. I don't care what anyone says, this is by far the best looking MPV on the market. Renault have truly turned a corner with reliability... if you've had one before, buy one again, you won't regret it.

Having previously owned an '06 BWM 530i Touring this car is like a breath of fresh air in almost every way.
Whilst I miss the ease of overtaking I had previously this car is better in almost every other regard; it's more comfortable, the sat-nav and stereo are better, the boot storage space is greater and the light and airiness of the cabin is brilliant, especially for the kids. For the first time our 2-year old can actually see out of the car windows.
I have mild scoliosis and so opted for 15 way electrically adjustable seats on the BMW and still couldn't get comfortable. The Renault seats, like those in my previous Volvo are excellent; very supportive and firm without feeling like you are sitting on a board.
The boot space on the Renault is also excellent and the additional cubby holes / seating flexibility make packing for driving holidays with kids a doddle. The only thing I miss there is a vertical divider net between the boot and the rear seats that would help packing above window height, as currently we have to rely on the headrests, which is less that optimal.
The 1.6 dci engine has sufficient power and will be plenty for most people, although you do have to rev it a bit to get any movement at all and I've stalled on a few occasions, but it just takes getting used especially as I'm coming back to a manual after years with an auto. I drove a BMW X1 1.8d last week and was able to reverse off the drive without even touching the throttle, something the 1.6dci isn't capable of. That said, it's very, very quiet and refined inside the cabin and once you get above 1,500 rpm then it's very responsive indeed.
The ICE is excellent. The Bose speakers sound very good indeed and are well balanced, giving great mid range instead of catering just for extended bass and tinny notes. The Bluetooth pairing was easy and I was able to stream Spotify from my phone. Unfortunately I've not figured out how to change playlists and the track display lags a bit with Spotify, but otherwise it's very good.
The ride is comfortable both around town and on the motorway, this isn't a sports car but it's fun to drive in it's own way, probably a result of the engine encouraging you to keep the revs above 1,750 all the time.

I have had this car since 2008, I loved it at first, it fitted my needs for a big family/friends. It was lovely to drive, very spacious, loved all the extra storage places. However over the years it's seen it's fair share of problems. One being the dashboard showing up one fault or another, breaks, exhaust, electric circuit point etc…
The main problem was the passengers' electric windows, which just went down on their own when no one was in the car and wouldn't go back up, this also happened to the drivers window, which I had to have fixed, not a cheap fix, and now back window doesn't open.
It has been costly over the years, however if you know a car that isn't then please tell me. If all these costly electrical faults had not happened as well as the other faults then I would recommend this car for families. However due to this I wouldn't. Time for a new car now..
