The Subaru Impreza has more space for passengers than for luggage, but it's useful day-to-day
Decent everyday practicality means the Impreza sits well among the rugged estate cars and SUVs that make up the rest of the Subaru range. It also complements its stablemates when it comes to dealing with foul weather conditions and poorly surfaced roads – a traditional Subaru forte.
Subaru Impreza interior space & storage
The latest Impreza is larger on the outside than its forebear and that translates directly to a more spacious interior. Most drivers will have plenty of room to adopt a comfortable position behind the wheel, while front-seat passengers aren't left wanting for legroom.
The same is true in the rear, where most occupants will find enough headroom thanks to a recess carved into the roof lining, while the Impreza's generous wheelbase means all but the most long-legged adults will be comfortable.
Boot space
While the latest Impreza has five litres more boot space than the previous model and its 385 litres rivals the Volkswagen Golf, it falls some way behind the Honda Civic and Skoda Octavia's capacity. The latter is worth a mention, since the four-wheel-drive Scout version of the Skoda Octavia Estate can be bought for only a little more than the 2.0-litre Impreza.
