Has proved to be an excellent purchase. We bought it initially for our teenage children. It has always been reliable with no breakdowns or major repairs required and now has covered over 50,000 miles. On a recent 300 mile trip it was surprisingly comfortable and the journey cost only £27 in petrol. It is very economical to run. We have been so impressed with it, that we have just ordered an additional Aygo (new 2014 model) for our own use as second car.

Superb little car, great build quality, extremely nippy and fun to drive - I really can't fault it. This was bought as a second car for my 60 mile a day commute and it handles it no problem. My main car is an Alfa and im seriously considering ditching it for another one of these

Gearbox front seal failed 30 days after end of warranty - oil on clutch plate and thus clutch slipping. Toyota only prepared to cover 80% of cost despite low mileage (8,000 miles) and car only 30 days out of warranty. This is a Toyota supplied component, shoud not fail so early, and Toyota not too interested.

The aygo does exactly what it was designed to do - cheap and easy to run, maintain and own. It's a stylish little car that will always try and put a cheeky smile on your face. Toyota dealers are nice to deal with and make ownership on the whole all the more enjoyable. Improvements? Steering could be sharper and more communicative like the mini but other than that, it's perfect!

Ideal city car and also for cheap day to day rural transport and still fine for occasional motorway use. Must be one of the cheapest cars to run. Too small for a family as limited luggage space but that is not what it was designed for. As cheap a to b motoring as is available at present.

First problem was the clutch going but I can drive stupid sometimes so it was to be expected apart from that this car has taken a battering from me constantly putting miles on the clock as a delivery driver I can average 800 to 1000 miles per week. It is fantastic and fuel cheapest car I've ever had to run as for servicing I do by myself which cuts costs down quite a bit I've never changed the brakes yet but after 60k constant use they are wearing now. Oh and it's small- way to small. That's my only problem with this car other than that it's great.

I am one of 5 owners I know of who have water ingress into the boot (been back to dealers time and again), front window and top right edge of windscreen. Water in light units from new, told it would go away if I left the lights on long enough (yeah right) - warm air holds more water than cold. Also takes longer to de-ice inside more than outside. Love the car for its driving etc but not the water. Can't go through even a hand held car wash, driver gets wet. Have written to Toyota HQ and been told to go back to dealers...again!

Before buying, I wanted a cheap-to-buy, cheap-to-run second hand car with central locking, electric windows and air-con. The AYGO fitted that list perfectly.. with the added bonus of being surprisingly fun. I've owned mine for nearly two years now and it has been cheap to run and service. I drive carefully and steadily to achieve 54mpg on my commute and up to 70mpg in good conditions on a long motorway drive, which means my 35 litres of fuel always get me 400-440 miles but could go up to 500. Comfort and practicality isn't the best, nor is it the worst, but it has all I need to get myself and my bags around.

Bought this because I was looking for a low cost commuting/city car that looked okay. Generally pleased with the way it drives - very nippy around town and also good on motorways (considering its size). The cabin is comfortable and surprisingly spacious and its reasonably cheap to run. I'm afraid that's where the positives finish though. I purchased from the Toyota dealerships in Chesterfield and it was the worst buying experience I have ever had, from beginning to end. Have also had quite a few issues with the car - exhaust, brakes (very early on), water pump, clutch and also with the bodywork. The paint started to blister almost immediately after purchase - the dealership tried to tell me it was my fault for washing the car with hot water/driving in snow (grit)/using pressure washers. I've had problems ever since with it - paint on some areas 'crazing', the lacquer blistering and then peeling off in several areas. It is a 2006 reg, but only has 40K on the clock - the paint problems started at around 25K and I really wouldn't have expected this (compared to other cars I've had). I'd opted for the Toyota as I thought it would be better quality than the 106 or C1, but this hasn't been the case. Its doubtful I would buy Toyota again, and a certainty that I would ever use the dealership again.

The car has done me proud, i even managed a road trip around belguim holland germany and france on one tank of fuel ( 1300 miles ) which has left me astonished and amazed that a car was capable of doing this. In general the savings i am making on this this car is great, tax exempt and cheap to insure, toyota was onto something great here

Good Points: -Very fuel efficient. I'm not the most eco-safe driver in the world but a single tank still lasts for weeks. The fuel tank is pretty small too so can be brimmed for around £40. -Cheap to run with free tax and low insurance group. -Seats 4 in relative comfort despite its size. -Nice to drive around town -Engine needs working, but drive enthusiastically and it will keep up with motorway traffic. Downsides: -Driving experience isn't the greatest. Steering, while light, is also very vague, and the body roll is appalling. Can also feel rather unstable and darty at higher speeds which can be unsettling. -Clutch and gearbox are dodgy. The clutch judders and has a very high, vague biting point which makes the Aygo very easy to stall. The gearbox in mine is intermittent: some days I will have no issues at all, other days it will pick and choose to resist going into certain gears (1st and Reverse usually), or will grind when trying to block-change up the gears. -There's a very noticeable drop in power between 2nd and 3rd gear, so changing-up to soon can be problematic when accelerating quickly. -The boot isn't actually that small considering the size of the car, but is very deeply recessed due to the boot hatch being very high up the rear of the car. Plus the tailgate is hard to close without slamming which, given that it's entirely glass, is a bit of a worry... Overall, I do like this car and enjoy driving it, and would recommend it to people who are in the market for a cheap, reliable runabout. It's especially good for new drivers due to being so economical and inexpensive to run. However, with the selection of small cars on offer today, I wouldn't go as far to say it's the best deal for your money.

Bought my Aygo having previously owned a Toyota Yaris but needed something cheaper to run. Unfortunately the Aygo is nowhere near the quality you would expect from Toyota. The car feels very cheap and has cost me a lot of money in the long run due to several problems. The car is fine for short trips into town but would not recommend for regular motorway use. The engine struggles a lot going uphill and cannot cope with speeds over 60mph. The boot is small but deep so it's surprising how much shopping you can get in. I would definitely recommend the 5 door version over the 3 door and get the Club Toyota breakdown cover as you will need it!

This car was bought for a single purpose; ease of parking in the crowded streets of Spain. It has performed perfectly in that role. With an amazing storage capacity, air con and tiny footprint, I can't think of a better car to use for the day to day activities that everyone gets up to. After 20 months and 27000 miles, it has not had a single technical problem. Off to buy a new one.

This has been my first car and I must say I haven't had any problems with it. It has a smooth drive, nifty on the roads and comfortable on the city drive and motorway. One note: If you see how small the car is, don't judge it because when you get in it, you will notice how much room there is inside. The cars' air-con is crisp and fast cooling which makes it reach the right temperature in hot periods. Best feature of this car is i can fill my car between £26-35 of fuel every two weeks and travel over 320 miles without refuelling which is a good key for people who is like me such as: 20 years old, multi skilled worker and earning minimum wage. I'd say one down fall is the engine is loud, but without a rev-o-meter it is a massive help as it helps me change my gears and you get used to it by just turning the radio up. It is only bothering when it reaches about 70 mph on motorway, but you can still not hear it when you turn the volume up on the stereo. I'd offer this car to youngsters around 17-25 who are just starting to learn to drive and want cheap car insurance, and cheap to run.

Apart from the dealership service department when i first bought the car, i would certainly buy another car from the same manufacturer, however i wouldn't rule out one of a similar range from a different one.

I am pretty pleased, as it has reduced my motoring costs whilst turning in an adequate performance for my needs - i drive alone most of the time and use the train for longer journeys. It's very easy to park, and has good build quality, represents good value for the price.

Brilliant fun to drive, economical (great as i'm a student), surprisingly spacious inside and apart from one electrical hitch, absolutely problem-free. Customer care at toyota is brill. However, the boot could be easier to access if you're loading bulky items. Otherwise it's fine. Great car.

Not as economical or reliable as expected from a small toyota. several small issues including trim etc taken dealer several attempts to correct and some ongoing over the 3 years of ownership! Car does drive and handle well for a small hatch but the poor dealer service, poor manufacturer backup and issues i have had mean i would not buy a toyota again (virtually every toyota and lexus model has had a recall over last 12 months......)

This must be the worst Toyota ever made. There is 48,000 kilometers on the clock. I have had the car for 2 years and it is used to drive kids to school etc. In the 2 years I have had this car I have had to replace the entire computer board, get a new clutch, fix a leak on the roof, replace the back passenger window because it fell off, it needs a service every 5 months and the usual brake pads, new tires etc... This is an awful car, it would have been cheaper to rent a top of the range BMW. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!
