I have been a VW driver for nearly 16 years with 4 Passats and now my 1.4 TSI Petrol Golf Match. This is a great car with a high spec and enough power to still put a smile on the face of an old boy racer like me. Average fuel consumption is circa 34mpg with hard driving but I can tease just over 50mpg with a lighter foot on a long run. My only gripe, and from other reviews I am not alone in this, is the creaky dashboard. I have had a creak from behind the steering column since new and my VW dealer could not resolve this after having my car for 2 days and stripping back all components in the area. My solution, which works, is to stuff old socks on either side of the steering column at the dashboard. That is why only 4 stars. I am thinking I need a new car but am struggling to pick one that is likely to be as good as my Golf. It will probably be another Golf.
