Really comfortable car and very quiet, both on country roads and motorway. Poor MPG lets it down. Entertainment centre not great and Bluetooth connection is the worst I've ever had in a car. However, overall a safe, comfortable, roomy car.

Previously had S60 2.0-litre diesel saloon as company car. Liked the look of the XC60 as a replacement and it was 'on the list' so with the appeal of the D4 diesel engine economy figures I went for it. Car has lived up to most expectations with the notable exception of economy. The best achieved on a trip so far is 44mpg. Very disappointed! Could rely on the S60 to deliver 54mpg, even at a good 70mph. In summary, I like the car but not the fuel bill!

Car is satisfactory but after sales disappointing.had to wait 2 weeks for a replacement exhaust gas heat sensor,was told the car was safe to drive even though it was only going on half power.no courtesy car was provided

I love it: fast, comfortable, excellent seats (i have back problems following major surgery. Only volvo seats are comfortable for me! I can do a 300+ mile journey in this car in comfort i am in pain after 20 minutes in most oher cars.A Little heavy on fuel, but perhaps thats my heavy right foot.

Great car. The only fault has been that the rear differential pump went, but was fixed under warranty. I've driven 34,000 miles on the same back tyres, and have been offered a good trade in price, too.

Great car. Moved down from an XC90 so seems quite compact. Great four pot engine and good ride on 18-inch tyres. Not so good fuel economy - 36.4mpg average. I was getting 33mpg on the D5 XC90 so quite shocked.

Great car! I had a V70 before so was used to the small buttons, but I will admit that the buttons are small. Turning off functions like lane warning while driving is a dangerous thing to do as you can easily hit wrong buttons first! Car drives very well in normal auto box and becomes an performance car when you switch to sports mode! I love the safety features and parking sensors, some people moan about them making a noise but to be honest they only make noises if you are driving badly or about to hit something! They can all be turned off so if you don't like them turn them off! I would recommend the car to anyone, or any other Volvo model for that matter. The Volvo garage in Kendal was very helpful and I would recommend them as well.

Great product supported by poor dealer network. I hope the chinese continue to develop the products whilst focussing their attention on the dealer network, car is much better than the deals. Great shame.

The third Volvo I have owned, a V50 then V70 then XC60 crossover and by far the best ride ever. Good to drive and driving position. But sorry to say the engine and clutch are a disaster. The clutch started going soft and the pedal would drop to the floor within eighteen months. The dealership was not 100% helpful, either. Numerous engine problems and the clutch playing up again and the engine is now using oil and water. The car is waiting to go in for repair. A shame as it's a very comfy and decent car apart from the driveline. I have been told that Volvo is now Chinese owned and hope this doesn't spell the end of Volvo reliability.

Had XC 60 R Design previously. This one more refined & comfortable , but as previous one not good on fuel. My MD is getting same economy with a discovery . One would imagine even with auto & permanent all wheel drive to still get nearer 40 mpg with a diesel car .

I find it an incredibly refined and comfortable car, so it's a great place to do longer journeys in. It is powerful enough, and I love the lack of intrusive noise that makes it so easy to just talk to people in the back of the car without raising your voice even at motorway speeds. Slight negative with the bluetooth functionality not being perfect, and as some have mentioned, the economy is a long way off what I expected to achieve. I drive quite conservatively and the best trip average I've ever made (with all conditions favourable) was 52mpg, but we're normally down in the 40-45mpg range, which is just too far off what was anticipated. Oh, and on the comfort, that doesn't seem to apply to anyone sitting in the middle seat on the rear bench, that seems slightly elevated and stiff, and is not a good place for an adult to be (not that they usually are).

Great all-round family car. Loads of space and solid build quality. My previous VW CC gave me a dodgy back and I have tried nearly every car out and the Volvo is miles more comfortable than anything else. Some complain about fuel economy but it really does depend on how heavy your right foot is. I'd rather sacrifice a bit at the pumps and have the confidence to overtake quickly without having to change down a gear.

Sadly the most unreliable car I've ever had. Very comfortable and good to drive but I have to visit garage to fix engine niggles on a regular basis, which negates this. Volvo unable to sort fuel valve issue and the myriad of other electrical engine faults. A dog.

Extremely comfortable on smooth roads. But then extremely uncomfortable on any other road surface. On open country roads you are forced to slow down to achieve any level of comfort. With the new high efficiency engine, even driving at my most frugal I cannot get above 42 or 43mpg compared to high 50s expected. My previous car was a 2.0 diesel Passat in which I achieved over 58 mpg average over 60,00 miles. I expected the same or similar but this thing just drinks fuel.

Have had a couple of issues, but nothing that actually put me off the road without warning. Both driveshafts replaced under warranty (a known early XC60 issue), work done without question by main dealer.

The car is comfortable, accommodates pretty much anything, and is able to plug away through severe weather. But a string of irritating problems necessitating regular repeat visits (and a round trip of 100 miles) to dealers have convinced me that the volvo marque is not what it's cracked up to be.

Nowhere near as reliable on the electrical front as expected from a premium manufaturer. Some significant disappointments with running costs (actual versus claimed fuel consumption is 25% higher), automatic gearbox previous generation standard. Excellent styling and practicality for family car.

Good solid car with lots of equipment and optional heated rear seats and steering wheel a must for the family and the seats are extremely comfortable. My car has been back to the dealer 4 times now for an intermittent juddering/ minor power drop when maintaining a constant speed at around 1400rpm but otherwise a great engine with plenty of grunt. A few minor design faults: 1. When driving, the rear fog light switch is hidden by the steering wheel and you have to fumble to press it (I do worry I will open the tailgate pressing the wrong button). 2. The main speed in fixed in mph. You can get km/h to appear in a small readout smaller than your thumbnail at the bottom of the dash, but it's very hard when looking where you are going and then checking your speed when say in France!

I've had the car for 6 months and very pleased with it so far, excellent family car. Love the upgraded sound system and the sunroof. I considered the X3 and Q5 as options and preferred the XC60 based upon its styling and equipment level as well as the drive (X3 was an excellent drive too though, while the Q5 was bland but both had reliability issues upon researching - how accurate that is, maybe debatable). The seats are the most comfortable I've ever sat in and the visibility is amongst the best you'll find. Performance is fantastic it really does shift and equally is great around town too, sport mode shows what the 5 cylinder engine can deliver. Fuel economy is as claimed.

Done 2500m so far. Excellent to drive. Comfortable ride, smooth transmission,lovely sests, good load carrier, no reason whatsoever to regret my choice. The 17 inch alloys allow a big tyre which means a softer ride. It's my 13th car, my 6th volvo, and on both counts the best one yet. Altogether a fabulous car.

Nice car to drive, but won't be buying another one. Extremely costly to run as every time there is an exhaust recycling problem you are looking at least £1,000 to sort it out. As our first was after only three years, we must be due another one soon.

Not happy with towing of caravan plug in electrics. Got to destination 3 times and plug in to return. No road lights signals etc. Had to have van returned later by RAC contractors. Had fixed but repeated. Cant find an answer it would seem. I get my car on Motability scheme, won't get another for sure. Nice enough to drive but that's all...

We bought a XC60 from new, it's had the same on going fault since the start. They have never managed to fix it and the car has been in the garage on many many occasions. I was told that as it was an ongoing fault that it would be kept under warranty. Now it's passed it's warranty and has the same fault, we now have to pay to get it fixed!!! It's unbelievable and never known such poor customer service.

I do NOT like this car. The control panel is hard to see, crowded, and obscured most of the time by the driver's arm. The flashers that alert you that you are being passed go constantly in heavy traffic--a major distraction. I do not need a siren shrieking while I am parallel parking--duh, I know I am close to his bumper. The backup camera and the right rear view mirror are badly distorted with regard to true distance. This was a loaner, but a 2014 model, and already the key fob did not reliably open the trunk. This one needs work.

Extremely pleased with my purchase,suspension a bit bump and thump over uneven ground. Overall a very competent car the recent winter did not cause any problems it is extremely comfortable and reasonably economical.
