Smart ForTwo Cabrio convertible (2016-2019) - MPG, running costs & CO2
Both petrol engines available in the Smart ForTwo Cabrio are economical and exempt from road tax
Smart ForTwo Cabrio MPG & CO2
ForTwo Cabrio buyers have a choice of either a 70bhp 1.0-litre petrol engine or an 89bhp 900cc turbocharged petrol. The latter is in fact more efficient, despite its extra power, with official economy standing at 67mpg and CO2 emissions coming in at 97g/km. The 1.0-litre engine doesn’t lag far behind, returning 65mpg and CO2 emissions of 99g/km, meaning neither model of the ForTwo Cabrio costs anything to tax.
Insurance groups
The ForTwo Carbio should be a cheap car to insure, with the less powerful of the two models coming in at around group four. The more powerful 900cc model will be slightly more expensive to insure, particularly if you go for a higher-spec car, but not by much – expect groups nine and 10.
Servicing
Largely because of the car's size and weight, maintenance costs should be pretty low. Smart offers a payment plan for servicing that can be as low as £15 per month, depending on the length of the plan and number of services included.
Warranty
All new Smart cars come with a three-year, unlimited-mileage warranty. There are other brands, like Hyundai with its i10 city car, that offer five-year/100,000-mile cover, but fortunately for Smart not many of them produce convertible city cars.
