As has been said by many others, pay no attention to the badge snobs. I bought this as I was looking for a replacement that was capable of towing a caravan, after my Vauxhall Insignia engine blew up when I wasn't towing and on our way to Italy.
The spec of this vehicle beats many of it's competitors, all leather heated seats, bluetooth, sat nav, electric front seats, mirrors, cruise control etc. It beats the spec of the Insignia which didn't even have bluetooth. So for the cost, they are excellent value.
Like many others have said, the gearbox is notchy between 1st and 2nd gear. It's a little high geared so can struggle to pull away in 2nd unless you hit the revs. Other than that no issues with any other gear. Loads of torque and quick to accelerate. Towed my 1350Kg (+ about an additional 150 Kg load in the van and a further 100 Kg in the car) caravan without issue. Easily pulls up steep hills when towing. It does have a bit of body roll, but it is a tall vehicle and higher centre of gravity than most, but that additional clearance is useful on some camp sites. You drive to your own abilities and the limitations of your vehicle, try to drive it like a boy racer and you will suffer.
There are one or two niggles, such as the drivers lumbar support disengages randomly, but I have experienced this in more expensive vehicles. Another is that the rear seat belt locks are difficult to access if one of the seats is lowered, could be doing with being slightly longer.
My fuel consumption is a little lower than most, possibly because a service is required, unsure if it was actually done properly when I purchased. It's not a lot worse than my Insignia when towing, but I've not done any longer trips without the caravan so can't compare for distance.
