This car was initially sold to me as an automatic, which it was not. It has an electronic gearbox, which from the onset was extremely sluggish at low speed. A few months ago, the gears started slipping dangerously from the drive to neutral position and cutting out. Toyota are unhelpful and uninterested in so far as the £2,150 it cost me to repair. I have established that this is a 'well known' problem with MMT gearboxes but Toyota do not want to know.The parts are only guaranteed for one year as well! My car is currently awaiting another 'recall inspection', this time to do with possible oil leaking into the combustion chamber. The first one was when I just bought it and it had an 'acceleration' problem and the brakes had to be replaced as well. All in all an extremely expensive mistake. This car has not lived up to Toyota's pledge of durability and reliability. I would never ever consider buying from them again.

Only issue in three years was that the passenger side cup holder (retracts into dashboard) broke last year - replaced under warranty.

Compared to previous Toyotas I've owned this one has had several niggling problems with the gearbox/clutch, windscreen wipers and steering.

Nothing has gone wrong yet - no niggling teething problems, no manufacturer recall, no problems with the hybrid function - although these are things I've experienced with other cars I've owned.

To sum up this vehicle i have been told good thing about toyota with there quality unfortunatly this vehicle has not made that level Here what has been done to it Engine ecu flashed 3 times New clutch for gearbox chatter Gearbox overhaled at 59,000 miles timing chain cover gaskets leaking engine removed for that along with gearbox Polly "v" belt and tensioner Alarm problems,alarm active over winter periods Lhd rear brake caliper sized Gearbox still chatters and poor gearchange on 2nd and 3rd gear Overhall i would not buy another toyota again -unreliable Sticking to german on my next car 3rd brake light flashes when tail gate is opened

The toyota auris is over priced and out classed when compared to nearly all of its rivals. The engine is very low in torque and does have to be worked extremely hard to keep up with the flow of traffic. The car is extremely light which shows in the aluminium foil type door thickness and leaves you tensing your arms as you drive past a lorry. In windy conditions on a motorway it becomes even more scary and trying to have any type of phone conversation on a blue tooth hands free is impossible regardless of how loud the volume is due to wind noise. This car is only a good buy second hand buy due to its poor resale value or for a second family car for the wife to drop the kids off at school and do the shopping but is no way a substitute for a focus, a golf or even dare i say it a peugeot 308! On second thoughts if i did have children of my own i would not buy the auris because i would not be confident of it holding up in a bump regardless of the euro crash rating.

This is the worst car i have driven in years, the gearbox is a joke, all the controls are difficult to get at or use, brakes and steering feel totally disconnected , the whole car lacks character and feel, the word bland would be a compliment to this car. The best part of this car are the door mirrors.

I purchased a top of the range Excel spec Auris 1.4d & honestly it's hard to find any fault. It's mainly used for long distance business trips 150-300 miles & I will do 2000 miles or more a month. Car is very reliable and has a 5-year 100k warranty. Since purchasing I've put about 70k miles on it but driven with care & serviced every 10k miles. Had usual wear & tear brakes replaced after about 60k 3 new tyres. Front lights are expensive had to replace 2 at £40 each but that's the only shock. It's very practical with fold flat rear. This one also has the dual level boot to hide valuables away. Easily converts into estate. I'm tall (6'2") so tend to have the seats all the way back, not a lot of space as a rear passenger. The seats are excellent, this one full leather easy to clean & heated. It's very easy to park with a rear-view camera, also has front & rear parking sensors. This one also has self parking -I've used it once, you drive next to a parked car and it tells you to drive forward then takes over the steering. It's not the kind of thing I would want to use in London, Birmingham, Glasgow but it's very cool. The 1.4d engine is great, not a lot of power but the car is very light. It's happy 50-70 although it has 6 speed gearbox I get better fuel economy in 5th, it will happily give 62 on a typical A / M road. Fuel economy will drop if you drive hard or have all the electronics on e.g. air conditioning. I also have a Thule roof rack easy to fit so we can take the bikes also. A++++++. I love my Auris.

We bought this car for its specs - narrow body to fit narrow roads and parking lots, reasonable acceleration, comfy suspension, low noise and we wanted an automatic transmission. So far, it meets all those points except for a fairly large turning radius, which could be much better (same size VW Golf is better at this). We chose the Hybrid for no economically justifiable reason - it was a geek's choice as Teslas and plugins were out of budget (no tax in my country that would justify the choice over a non-hybrid). So far so good. Then after driving it for some time, annoying little details started to accumulate: - sensors refuse to work on 15% of winter drives and give error messages every few meters along with a constantly flashing orange warning light - parking assistance parks the car rather far from curb - really just for people who can't do without - speedometer shows 9% higher speed than real, but this is the case in other brands as well - eco-mode allows only minimal heating, but standard automatic mode doesn't heat from the central console either - this has to be adjusted manually - seat heating can be switched between off, very hot and ridiculously hot - the SW that is supposed to allow phone screen mirroring onto the central screen is not working - my guess is this was a way to make sure you pay that ridiculous price for a navigation from Toyota - the volume controls on the touch screen are a pain to use on bumpy roads (would prefer a knob)

In one word Horrible, This was the second faulty low mileage 2012 Toyota Auris from Jemca Toyota Bromley, this one was pulling away on its own when the engine kicked in from sitting in electric, apparently this is sometimes normal says Toyota GB, they said Keep your handbrake on at all times 5 or 6 clicks then it wont happen, Horrible car and horrible experience with Toyota GB, sold the car now never again.

Have not had a single problem in getting towards 5 years. Have had 1 recall regarding the brake pedal (well publicised in the media at the time) but have to admit never had a problem prior to the work being done anyway, and got Ł25 of gift vouchers from TOYOTA when the change was made.

Good styling and ride comfort, very easy to drive especially in urban cycle. Performance is poor in comparison with engine size. Acceleration on motor way/dual carriageways is below what i would have expected, engine noise excessive under load. Good cruising speed can be achieved eventually. Rear park assist a boon.

Very easy to drive,good mpg,seats are very comfortable,the ride is Good. I can drive 460 miles stopping only once for 30 mins,i arrive At the hotel without feeling tired. The journey takes 8 hours.not bad For a 77 yr old male.
