This has been our family wagon for 7 years now. We bought it at 500 miles from VW. There were problems with the flywheel and steering rack fixed under warranty, but the flywheel (dual mass) is broken again, so we're looking at a big bill to fix it, but it drives okay for now. The DSG gearbox got a bit noisy during the warranty period as well, but VW decided to ignore my concerns, even though I took them to the CEO! One thing I will not be doing is having the emissions update, as there are horror stories about this all over the web. The suspension creaks but new bushes should sort that. It will probably do us for another 7 years. It's a very comfortable car, not really sporty but satisfying in it's own little way. Practicality is awesome and everything seems to be wearing well.

Poor fuel consumption - miles per gallon in the low twenties locally. The best I've managed on the motorway is 32mpg. Got the car on mobility, and it's been returned after 6 months as fuel bills are too high.

Bought it when it was 1 year old. Very nice och quiet car, and well equipped. But I had problems right from the start. First thing was a leaky seal on one of the outgoing drive shafts. Then I discovered bubbles in the paint on the side doors due to galvanic currents. Solution was to repaint of the doors. I think they just wanted to push the problem past the paint warranty. Next thing was a jiddery clutch, and it resulted after after several trips and changing of diesel injectors to replacement of clutch and flywheel. And after that a intermittent faulty parking sensor and recalibration of rear parking camera. And at last replacement of another parking sensor because the paint was coming off. All of these problem was repaired at no cost for me. Since the "new car" warranty now have come to an end, I decided to sell the car and have done so. Luckily I found another brand of used car at a VW dealer, so it became a trade in. Didn´t want to sell it direct to another person.

Second Sharan I have owned and this one is worse than the 62 plate I had, plus there are no obvious changes from the previous model. MPG is poor for such a car. Car is average to drive and more poorly equipped than its SEAT counterpart. I have never understood why Volkswagen don't do a performance one of these for the die hard GTI and R32 previous owners like me who now have a family and can't buy these cars anymore.

Huge space, but not that much fun in a city, try to find a place to park. Good drive on highways in terms of comfort, but not sporty. Quality is not the expected VW quality, car has rost. Bluetooth is not working reliable with iphone. Sat NAV is slow (RNS315).
