Facelifted Audi SQ5 TDI now available to order
Latest Audi SQ5 SUV has 342bhp diesel engine; prices start from £56,600
- Standard and Vorsprung models available
- 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds and 34mpg
- Arriving in dealerships in early 2021
The high-performance Audi SQ5 SUV has received a host of updates for 2021 and the updated car is now available to order. Prices start at £56,600 for the standard version, while the fully equipped Vorsprung model is £15,150 more expensive at £71,750.
The Vorsprung model comes with 21-inch alloy wheels (a size bigger than standard), OLED rear lights, air suspension, carbon-fibre interior trim, a head-up display, an upgraded sound system and advanced adaptive cruise control. Audi is offering a Brexit price guarantee, meaning the company will pay any extra tariffs if you order by 2 December.
The powertrain consists of a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine and a 48v mild-hybrid system similar to the ones seen in the Audi A7 and Q8. The mild-hybrid system includes a belt-driven alternator-starter and a small lithium-ion battery that can recover up to 12kW of energy from braking. In combination, the diesel and mild-hybrid powertrain give the new SQ5 a power output of 342bhp and 700Nm of torque.
Featuring permanent quattro four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the SQ5 can send up to 85% of its power to the rear wheels. Audi claims the SQ5 can get from 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds and onwards to an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.
You can expect fuel economy of 34.4mpg and a CO2 figure of 216g/km when driven more sedately.
Further setting the SQ5 apart from the standard Q5 is a number of chassis upgrades, with adaptive steering, active suspension, torque vectoring and larger brakes.
The exterior features new LED headlights, a restyled front bumper with larger air intakes, a new rear bumper with a rear diffuser and four exhaust pipes, aluminium wing mirror caps and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Interior updates for the SQ5 include Audi’s latest 10.1-inch infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit digital dial cluster, WiFi hotspot capability, a leather multifunction steering wheel and Alcantara sports seats.
