Bentley Bentayga review - Practicality & boot space
The Bentley Bentayga has a comfortable and spacious interior, although the boot could be bigger
There’s plenty of room for four adults in the Bentayga, with excellent head and legroom. The middle rear-seat passenger will have to put up with a pronounced lip in the floor thanks to all those four-wheel-drive mechanicals, but it’s actually wide enough to rest both your feet on.
The Bentayga EWB takes things to another level, effectively replacing the Bentley Mulsanne for VIP transportation. With extended legroom, rear seat occupants can stretch out more fully and refinement has been improved too.
Bentley Bentayga interior space & storage
There are plenty of storage spaces dotted around the Bentayga, although a Range Rover is ultimately more practical. Go for the Bentayga’s four-seat option and those in the rear get first-class comfort with heated, massaging, 18-way adjustable individual armchairs, complete with footrests.
In the EWB version, there’s the option of a standard three-seat bench, a two-plus-one setup with a narrow middle seat for occasional use, or two airline-style seats which means the Bentayga is only a four-seater. The latter is the most special, with ultra-luxurious rear seats capable of adjusting 22 ways and reclining by up to 40 degrees. In the Azure version it will even adjust automatically to keep you comfortable, along with the heating and cooling function.
The EWB’s revised centre console even features buttons to close the rear doors, without the passenger having to exert themselves. There’s a removable screen to control the seats, climate and media system, and the panoramic glass roof has been repositioned for the best view for those in the back.
Boot space
The Bentayga’s 590-litre boot (484 litres when measured to the parcel shelf) is a little disappointing, given that the Range Rover boasts 818 litres of luggage space. Choose the Bentayga Hybrid and the boot shrinks slightly to 479 litres. If you choose the standard five-seater configuration the rear seats are split-folding, making trips to the dump and DIY store a simple, if surreal, prospect.
Towing
When fitted with an electronically retractable tow bar, the Bentley Bentayga is capable of towing up to 3,500kg. A clever switch in the boot lowers the rear suspension, making hitching a trailer easier.
