I've downsized from a BMW 330d xDrive Touring, but I’m delighted with the M135i. It’s a very refined car, with a magnificent docile but powerful engine. Handling is first rate and ride comfort, not quite 3 Series but perfectly adequate and it’s easier to park with amazing parking aids and electronic gizmos.

First and foremost I can understand the owners of the previous M140i mourning the loss of the iconic 3 litre six-cylinder engine. Now after 2,000 miles from my first review, I do believe the M135i new generation car is objectively a better car. The previous car was apt to break traction on a wet and greasy road - fun when you want it to be but for me having the back end slide on a cold wet Monday morning joining the M25 was never a good start to my day - maybe I am getting old! Georg Kacher famed auto journo states 'this BMW is sensational', could not agree more. The only negative, that I have is the voice activation command which tends to be a bit hit or miss, mainly a miss in my experience.

Downsized from BMW 435D Gran Coupe XDrive and do not feel 'short changed' in any way. Impressed by the in car quality and tech, I have the M135i Plus Pack and the Tech pack 1 - both worth having. Yes it is FWD biased but none the worse for it , in fact steering feel is excellent . AWD capability is excellent in recent wet winter weather . Engine is powerful with plenty of torque, apparently engine is manufactured at Hams Hall, Warwickshire - well done to the folks there! Overall, very impressed with the car and that front grille treatment does grow on you over time.

By far the best car I’ve ever driven. On normal daily trips it’s as easy to drive as any car I’ve owned. Once you open it up and give it a bit of road it’s thrilling. The power is relentless. Getting 31.5mpg on average which I think from a 335bhp car is impressive. The interior is excellent and the upgraded Harmon/Kardon sound system is outstanding.
