New top-spec Dacia Duster Extreme SE SUV revealed

The top-of-the-range special edition of Dacia’s budget SUV gets black and orange styling upgrades

  • Model-specific colour scheme
  • Equipment mirrors range-topping Prestige trim
  • Available in April 2022 from £17,495

A new Dacia Duster Extreme SE special-edition model has bolstered the SUV’s lineup for 2022. This new trim level sits at the pinnacle of the Duster range and features an exclusive colour scheme and styling cues, plus the same high equipment specification as the Prestige model.

The Dacia Duster Extreme SE is due to go on sale in April 2022, with prices starting from £17,495 - slightly more expensive than the top-level Dacia Jogger seven-seater. The Duster already finds itself in a fairly unique position in the new car market as it is significantly cheaper than the majority of family SUVs such as the Renault Captur and Skoda Karoq.

A trademark of the new Duster Extreme SE is its distinctive orange and black colour scheme. The new model is available in eight different shades, including the new Urban Grey paint which is pictured here. The main body colour is then accented by several orange highlights including on the wing mirrors, the ‘DACIA’ lettering on the bootlid and slats integrated into the grille.

Unlike entry-level models of the Duster which make do with steel wheels, the Extreme SE boasts an exclusive set of 17-inch gloss black alloys. The inclusion of silver-trimmed roof bars give the Duster a more lifestyle-oriented feel.

Dacia has made an effort with the Extreme SE to make the cabin more vibrant than the relatively drab interiors of most of its cars. More orange accents can be found in the form of contrasting stitching on the part-leather upholstery and pinstriping on the air vents and door handles.

The Extreme SE mirrors much of its specification with the Prestige trim level. As standard, Extreme SE cars receive automatic air conditioning, heated seats, keyless entry, blind-spot monitoring, a reversing camera and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with built-in sat-nav and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

Dacia offers the Duster Extreme SE with a variety of engine choices. The entry-level power unit is a 1.0-litre petrol engine with 89bhp, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Moving up the range, larger and more powerful 1.3-litre petrol engines are available with either a six-speed manual or an EDC automatic gearbox. For the environmentally conscious, a Bi-Fuel LPG model can also be specified. All of these come with front-wheel-drive.

There is only one diesel option available: a 1.5-litre dCi with 113bhp. This is offered solely with the six-speed manual gearbox and is the only powertrain available with four-wheel drive.
