SUVs are popular in a big part thanks to their relaxing interiors, and passengers should have no trouble stretching out inside the DS 7. That’s especially the case in the La Premiere, thanks to a reach bench that reclines electrically.

DS 7 SUV interior space & storage

As you’d hope, there’s plenty of space, with room for adults in the front and a decent amount in the back, too. Thanks to a flat floor, three people can just about squeeze in the second row with enough room for the middle passenger’s feet. The floor is a bit shallow, though, so tall passengers might find their knees slightly elevated.

Headroom certainly shouldn’t be an issue, although taller owners might want to avoid the panoramic sunroof, as this does lower the roofline quite a bit.

Boot space

We doubt many will complain about the boot either. It measures 555 litres behind the rear seats and a generous 1,752 litres when they're folded away. It’s quite a bit more than the 505 litres of the X1 or the 1,234-litre maximum space in the Jaguar E-Pace. Unlike most plug-in hybrids, the E-Tense also manages to keep the same boot volume as the petrol and diesel.

Towing

Every DS 7 is reasonably capable when it comes to towing, although it won’t be at the top of the list if you need to haul really heavy loads. The BlueHDi 130 is rated to tow a 1,430kg braked trailer, while every E-Tense PHEV can pull a 1,200kg braked trailer. No matter which engine is fitted, the DS 7 can also tow an unbraked trailer of up to 750kg. This should be plenty to tow a trailer or medium-sized caravan and a fitted tow bar is also available as an official accessory. Some rivals can tow quite a bit more, however, with top versions of the Audi Q3 and Volvo XC40 able to lug around 2,000kg.
