DS 7 SUV - Reliability & safety
DS 7 reliability is a step into the unknown, but excellent safety is guaranteed
It’s not easy to tell how reliable the DS 7 will be; after all it’s fitted with lots of technology and has sold in relatively small numbers in the UK. Luckily, we already know that safety is excellent.
DS 7 Crossback reliability
Being the first DS model built from scratch and not based on an existing Citroen, it’s still tricky to gauge how reliable the DS 7 will be in the long run. DS didn’t feature in our 2022 Driver Power satisfaction survey, however it came 18th out of 30 manufacturers in our 2020. The DS 7 didn’t appear in our 2022 Driver Power ‘top 75 models’ lineup either; however, it shares many of its parts with the Peugeot 3008, and no major issues have been reported so far with that model.
Regardless, from our limited time with the car, it appears to be very well built, with particular attention paid to the quality of its design and the sturdiness of its structure.
Safety
Even before any customer deliveries had taken place, Euro NCAP had already crash-tested the DS 7 and awarded it the maximum five stars, which is great news for potential buyers. It scored strongly across the board, with 91% for adult occupant protection and an impressive 87% for child occupants. A score of 76% in the safety assistance category also shows how many advanced features it has to avoid a collision in the first place.
Driving assistance technology includes lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, driver fatigue monitoring and even the optional DS Connected Pilot, which allows for semi-autonomous driving.
