New Hyundai i30 facelift freshens family hatch for 2024
Subtle styling tweaks for new Hyundai i30, along with a suite of new safety features
- Sportier look for N Line models
- Improved interior tech
- More standard-fit safety kit
Since its launch in 2010, the Hyundai i30 has always offered excellent value-for-money, and a new facelift for the third-generation model is adding even more standard kit to the hatchback. It marks the second series of tweaks for the i30 – following a mid-life refresh in 2020 – with the aim of keeping it competitive against some strong family car rivals.
We’ve long been fond of the Hyundai i30, rating it just as highly as family favourites the Volkswagen Golf and Vauxhall Astra, even though all-new models of both have arrived since the third-generation i30 hit the market in 2017. Production of the new i30 will begin in the coming weeks, with UK pricing, spec and delivery information to be revealed later in the year.
What’s new for the 2024 Hyundai i30?
Without parking an outgoing model next to the new one, you’ll probably struggle to spot the styling differences, but Hyundai has tweaked the car where it’s seen fit to keep the i30 looking sharp. It will still be offered in hatchback and estate bodystyles, as well as the unique four-door coupe ‘Fastback’ option.
There’s a new pattern for the front grille, and the LED headlights are now standard-fit across the range. The same is true for the LED tail-lights, which sit above a revised lower bumper on hatchback and estate models. There’s a new 16-inch wheel design, too, along with seven new exterior paint options. The sportier-looking i30 N Line model gets its own set of changes, including new grille meshes, dark metal inserts to the front bumper and side skirts, and a choice of new 17-inch or 18-inch wheels.
Inside, the general layout is much the same as before, although all cars now come as standard with a 4.2-inch digital driver’s display, while a larger 10.25-inch unit is optional. There are new upholstery options and trim colours, and three USB-C ports dotted around the cabin.
The i30 already had an impressive suite of standard safety kit, but the 2024 facelift sees the addition of forward collision avoidance, lane keeping assistance, intelligent speed limit assistance and a rear occupant alert system as standard.
Under the bonnet, you’ll find the same range of engines as before, although Hyundai will now offer a mild hybrid option. More information on this engine, plus details on UK pricing and availability, will be revealed before the new i30 reaches dealers later this year.
