Hot car deal: Jeep Avenger for £187 a month – the most affordable electric SUV?
For June 26th, we’ve spotted one of our favourite EVs at a bargain price – the Jeep Avenger for just £187 a month
We’ve been known to sing the praises of the Jeep Avenger here at Carbuyer, with it regularly appearing in our top 10 best lists across a variety of categories. It’s always been a bit of a bargain, costing around £35,000 in electric form and only £24,000 with a petrol engine, and it has impressed us with decent levels of interior tech, driving manners and chunky styling.
Thanks to this lease deal from Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, the Avenger EV is even more affordable, so you can finally make the switch to electric motoring and benefit from rock-bottom running costs.
Better, still, is the fact that the version offered as part of this deal is the mid-spec Altitude model. We actually think the Jeep Avenger is well equipped as standard with LED headlights, a slick infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and climate control, but Altitude models bring larger alloy wheels, a bigger digital instrument display, a powered tailgate – perfect for when you’ve got your hands full of items to load into the boot – plus slightly upgraded interior trim and USB ports for rear occupants to keep devices charged up.
With the electric Jeep Avenger you can expect up to 249 miles to a charge in official figures, and when we tested it we managed to get about 220 miles of range. We think that’s a respectable figure that’s not far off the quoted stat, helped by the car’s heat pump which is fitted as standard, meaning that even in colder, wintry weather the battery has less work to do to keep everything at optimal operating temperatures.
Another thing we particularly liked about the Avenger was how it felt to drive – in fact, while many electric versions of petrol cars can feel heavier and worse to drive as a result, the Avenger was the opposite, perhaps because the electric model was at the forefront of the brand’s mind in the design process from the outset. The EV feels settled and composed where the lighter petrol model can feel a little skittish, and the Avenger’s lifted suspension means it’s comfortable and good at ironing out potholes and imperfections on British roads, too.
