Jeep Renegade updated for 2024: same looks, new screens
The small SUV celebrates its 10th birthday with a few tweaks to keep it competitive for another year
- New infotainment and driver’s displays
- Revised trim levels
- Remains hybrid only
In the hotly-contested market of small SUVs, the Jeep Renegade should be more competitive in 2024, thanks to a host of new updates. While the car remains unchanged externally, new interior tech and a revised trim lineup aim to build upon the American SUV’s unique, off-road-focused package.
A decade has passed since the Jeep Renegade made its debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, and it’s fair to say that the automotive landscape has progressed significantly in that time. The Jeep Renegade has kept up with an ever-changing market with a series of updates over the years, and this latest one brings minor tweaks to ensure its relevance for another year.
What’s new for the 2024 Jeep Renegade?
From the outside, you won’t spot any changes – the bodywork is virtually identical to the 2014 model. Inside, however, the dashboard gets a new 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen that Jeep claims is five times more responsive than the previous system. The driver gets a new 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster, too, replacing the analogue dials of the outgoing model.
The system comes fitted to every Renegade as standard, along with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, new USB A and C ports and a reversing camera. Voice commands are handled by an integrated Amazon Alexa voice assistant.
The Renegade’s trim structure has been revised for 2024 to better align with the brand’s other models, such as the Jeep Avenger and the Jeep Compass. There are four new trim levels to choose from, replacing the outgoing model’s Limited and Upland models. The Renegade Trailhawk remains as the top-spec model in the range.
The entry-level model, simply named Renegade, is only available with the cheaper mild-hybrid engine option and comes fitted with the aforementioned new interior tech, along with a set of 16-inch alloy wheels.
Altitude trim adds a host of extra features, from LED headlights, tail-lights and fog lights, to rear parking sensors, automatic air conditioning, 17-inch wheels and roof rails. Summit trim is another step above, adding heated seats and a heated steering wheel, along with larger 18-inch wheels.
Overland trim brings some 4x4-esque features, including 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tyres and a unique ‘off-road’ bumper. The mirror caps are painted black, as well, for an extra dash of style. If that doesn’t sound rugged enough for you, Jeep offers the Renegade in top-spec Trailhawk trim. This model is designed to tackle light off-roading, with a host of under-body shields and skid plates to provide protection from scrapes.
Engine choices are unchanged, with the more affordable mild-hybrid ‘eHybrid’ system offered alongside the four-wheel drive, plug-in hybrid ‘4xe’ system. We expect UK pricing and availability to be announced later this month.
