MG HS review (2019-2024) - Practicality & boot space
Lots of space and a hefty towing capacity should appeal
The MG HS is a fairly large car for its class, nestled between the Nissan Qashqai and Skoda Karoq for length, and interior space is very generous. Unlike some rivals, there's no seven-seat version at the moment, but the HS should prove to be an adept towing vehicle.
MG HS interior space & storage
MG's designers claim the interior of the HS is class-leading in terms of space, and we found it served up generous legroom and headroom both in the front and back. It should also fare well when it comes to seating three people across its rear bench. The panoramic sunroof doesn't appear to impede headroom too greatly and there are plenty of cubby holes and cup-holders.
Boot space
Measuring 463 litres in volume, the boot of the HS is bigger than the Ford Kuga but less roomy than the Kia Sportage (591 litres) or Skoda Karoq with 521 litres of boot space. The seats are able to split and fold 60/40, and there's a hidden storage compartment beneath the floor, but the rear seats can't be slid fore and aft. Impressively, the plug-in hybrid’s boot is very nearly the same size, at 448 litres.
Towing
A maximum braked towing capacity of 1,750kg means the majority of caravans, trailers and boats can be pulled safely, adding to the appeal of the HS.
