Mazda CX-5 gets new SE-L Lux specifications

The Mazda CX-5 SUV is now available with two new specifications, the SE‑L Lux and SE-L Lux Nav. The SE-L Lux spec levels fall just below the top-spec Sport and Sport Nav models in the Mazda CX-5 range.

Both the SE-L Lux and SE-L Lux Nav models use a 2.2-litre diesel engine in front-wheel drive and a manual gearbox. The main feature of these new models is the fact that they include a powered sunroof, a leather interior and heated front seats, with the Nav model also getting sat-nav. That means buyers don’t have to upgrade to a top-spec Sport model to get a CX-5 with a sunroof and leather seats.

The Mazda CX-5 SE-L Lux costs from £24,495, with the Nav version costing from £25,195 – that’s £1,200 more than the SE-L models that they are based on. The SE-L specification includes cruise control, climate control, automatic headlights, parking sensors, tinted windows, automatic wipers, Bluetooth and a 5.8-inch touchscreen display.

Boot space in the Mazda CX-5 is 503 litres, and this can be expanded to 1,620 litres by folding the 40:20:40 split rear seats down flat using two levers in the boot. The 2.2-litre engine in the SE-L Lux models will get 61mpg and has emissions of 119g/km, meaning tax is just £30 a year.

Despite being frugal, the engine can also go from 0-60mph in 9.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 126mph. The engine is also one of the smoothest and best to use in its class.

Peter Allibon, Mazda UK’s Sales Director, said: “Many potential Mazda customers have expressed an interest in being able to acquire a CX-5 with a sunroof and leather trim without having to purchase a range-topping Sport model. Now, responding to that latent demand, we are adding two models to our Mazda CX-5 range.”
