Updated SsangYong Korando on sale
The 2014 SsangYong Korando is on sale now priced from £14,995
The new SsangYong Korando is on sale now and features a refreshed design both inside and out.
Externally, the new Korando featurers a slimmer black mesh grille than the outgoing model, while the headlights now feature bright LED daytime running lights with aluminium trim. The rear light clusters have also been revised and also feature LED lights.
Changes have been made inside, too, with a redesigned dashboard built from new soft-touch plastics, which are joined by natural matt wood inserts. The cabin also features storage spaces including large cupholders, a mobile phone tray and a flip-down sunglasses tray. All models come with 60:40 split-fold rear seats, while the boot is a decent 486 litres.
Even the basic model comes complete with air conditioning, Bluetooth phone connectivity and cruise control, while higher-spec models get climate control, which automatically keeps the cabin at a preset temperature, and a leather interior.
The car can be had with a choice of two 2.0-litre diesel engines offering either 147bhp or 173bhp. The lower-powered engine is capable of 47.1 mpg and returns CO2 emissions of 147g/km, when fitted to the two-wheel drive model. The more powerful car comes complete with four-wheel drive for better grip and an automatic gearbox, but can manage just 37mpg and emissions of 199g/km. A host of new technology means both engines should sound much quieter from inside the cabin.
The four-wheel drive Korando should prove to be excellent off-road, while a maximum towing capacity of 2,000kg makes it a good choice for caravanners.
Safety features include Electronic Stability Control and Anti Roll-over Protection, although the Korando has not yet been rated by Euro NCAP.
On sale now, the Korando is priced from £14,995 for the basic two-wheel drive model and the first cars will be delivered later this month.
