Citroen DS3 Cabrio Racing goes on sale
Only 10 examples of Citroen's pricey convertible hot hatchback will come to the UK
The Citroen DS3 Cabrio Racing is now on sale in the UK but if you like its combination of performance, sporty styling and open-top driving you’ll have to be quick – only 10 examples of the car will be available here.
Like the hard-top Citroen DS3 Racing, the DS3 Cabrio Racing uses a 207bhp 1.6-litre THP petrol engine, which delivers a top speed of 145mph and a 0-62mph time of 6.5 seconds.
Citroen Racing, the motorsport arm of the French manufacturer, is responsible for the modifications to the standard DS3 on which the Cabrio Racing is based – these include a new exhaust system, upgraded brakes, as well as revised suspension and steering setups.
The DS3 Cabrio Racing sits lower to the road than the standard DS3 and has been given a sporty makeover so that the styling matches its performance. The bodywork has been given a sleek paintjob in Moondark Matte Gray and wears pieces of carbon fibre to emphasise the car’s connections with motor racing.
The Cabrio Racing also gets a black fabric roof and black 18-inch ‘Nemesis’ alloy wheels that hide bright red brake calipers.
The interior of the car features racing seats upholstered in Alcantara with bright red stitching and a numbered plaque on the gear lever to highlight the car’s limited edition status.
All the equipment found in the top-of-the-range DS3 DSport trim level is fitted in the DS3 Cabrio Racing, so owners will get digital air conditioning, rear parking sensors and LED daytime running lights. Citroen is also throwing in the eMyWay Signature pack, which includes an RDS stereo radio/MP3 compatible CD player with steering mounted controls, as well as a Bluetooth® system with USB socket and eight speaker hifi system.
Only 100 of the cars will be produced and the exclusivity comes at a price – at £29,305, the DS3 Cabrio Racing is in the same bracket as the Audi S3, Volkswagen Golf GTI and BMW M135i.
