Mitsubishi Shogun Barbarian launched
Styling upgrades add visual zest to the ageing Mitsubishi Shogun SUV
The new Mitsubishi Shogun Barbarian offers up a host of extras over the Warrior model on which it's based for a relatively modest £1,500 premium.
The new model is fitted with a series of extras including 20-inch alloy wheels, a leather interior with carbon inserts, a colour-coded spare-wheel cover and alloy pedals. The addition of a DAB digital radio rounds off the extra kit.
The new model shares the rest of its equipment with the Warrior which includes climate control, cruise control and sat-nav.
Buyers can choose to have their Barbarian finished in Black Pearl, Frost White, Elger Grey, and Cool Silver. The model is also available with the usual combinations of short (three-door) and long (five-door) wheelbases and with either a manual or an automatic gearbox.
Look behind the fancy new add-ons and the Barbarian is a car that has been long due for replacement, but if you are looking for a cheap and dependable off-road workhorse, then the Shogun could fit the bill.
With prices starting from £31,999 it costs significantly less than rivals such as the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Land Rover Discovery, while offering far more appeal than than the cheaper SsangYong Rexton W.
