SEAT Leon X-PERIENCE SUV to cost from £24k
The SEAT Leon ST-based SUV will boast a comprehensive range of standard equipment
The SEAT Leon X-PERIENCE will cost between £24,385 and £28,870 when order books open on 1 September. The latest addition to the Leon range boasts four-wheel drive and a raised ride height.
The rugged-looking new model, described by SEAT as a compact SUV, is based on the SEAT Leon ST estate. It is distinguished from lesser models by new plastic mouldings around the wheelarches and the bases of the doors, while new front and rear bumpers are fitted with aluminium-look trims.
SEAT has increased the height of the suspension, allowing it to tackle rougher terrain than the standard car. It is fitted with a clever four-wheel drive system that sends power to the front wheels in normal conditions. When it senses that grip is lost, it can send power to the rear wheels and distribute power to the wheels with the most traction.
Despite the four-wheel drive system, the SEAT Leon X-PERIENCE retains the Leon ST’s 587-litre boot, which can grow to 1,470 litres by pulling a single lever to fold the rear seats.
Two 2.0-litre diesel engines are offered, producing 148bhp or 181bhp. The low-power version is available with a manual gearbox, the latter with a DSG automatic gearbox.
Inside, the Leon X-PERIENCE features a comprehensive range of standard equipment. The SE specification model’s highlights include dual-zone climate control air-conditioning, upholstery unique to the model, hill-hold control and a chrome boot sill protector.
SE Technology models cost £1,985 more but SEAT says the model delivers £3,500 worth of extras, including a SEAT Media System with a digital radio and sat-nav, plus Alcantara upholstery, automatic headlights and wipers, and a dimming rear view mirror.
An optional £1,250 Lux Pack adds leather upholstery, heated front seats and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat.
