The best convertible to buy now
Two versions of the car are available; a standard Final Edition model and a Final Edition Premium version with even more equipment. All cars get heated, electrically adjustable seats, rain-sensing wipers, ‘Airscarf’ neck heaters, sat nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Parktronic parking assistance. Both also get 18-inch alloy wheels, a gloss black exterior trim pack and the vibrant ‘Sun Yellow’ paint.
The Final Edition Premium costs £3,795 more than the Final Edition, and for that you get a reversing camera, panoramic roof, high-functionality LED headlights, a wind deflector and online features. The AMG 43 model, which costs from £49,855, also gets a Harmon Kardon stereo.
Two versions of a 2.0-litre petrol engine, a 181bhp SLC 200 and 242bhp SLC 300, are available. They manage up to 40.4 and 37.2mpg respectively. The Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 has a 3.0-litre V6 with 385bhp, and its 32.5mpg figure is somewhat justified by its 4.7-second 0-62mph time. The SLC 200 comes with a six-speed manual as standard and a nine-speed automatic gearbox as an option, while the auto gearbox is standard on the SLC 300 and AMG 43.
