Ford Tourneo Connect Active MPV has 4x4-inspired styling
Tourneo Connect Active gets raised ride height and extra body cladding
- Ford introduces fifth Active passenger model
- Five- and seven-seat versions available
- Priced from £21,285 exc. VAT
The Ford Tourneo Connect will soon be available in an Active trim level, with raised ground clearance and styling inspired by off-roaders. The car will have a starting price of £21,285 before VAT and customer deliveries are set to begin at the end of the year.
Active-spec cars are marked out by black plastic body cladding on the wheel arches and bumpers, exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, a new grille and Active badges. There are scuff plates too, and two new ‘Sedona Orange’ and ‘Solar Silver’ paint colours.
The changes are similar to those applied to the Ford Fiesta Active and Ford Focus Active, while a Ford Tourneo Custom Active was recently launched. Until it was discontinued, the Ford Ka+ city car offered an Active trim level too. The Ford Transit Connect, which is the van version of the Tourneo Connect, is also now available in Active form.
While four-wheel drive isn’t fitted, buyers can specify a Quaife mechanical limited-slip differential at extra cost. It enables the power from the engine to be shifted to whichever wheels have the most traction, which will come in handy if you regularly tackle slippery, wet or unpaved surfaces. A similar system is used in Ford’s performance models, including the Fiesta ST and Focus ST.
The Tourneo Connect Active has been raised by 24mm at the front and 9mm at the rear. It gets the same engine choices as other models in the range, so you have the option of a 1.5-litre diesel engine with either 99 or 118bhp. A six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic are offered.
Available with either five or seven seats, the Tourneo Connect rivals the Citroen Berlingo, Volkswagen Caddy Life and Peugeot Rifter.
