New Nissan Qashqai facelift spotted in testing
A Nissan Qashqai facelift is on the way, and it’s been spotted in testing in the latest spy shots
- Expected to go on sale in 2024
- Same engines expected as before
- New front and rear redesign
The most popular car in Nissan’s lineup, and one of the UK’s top-selling cars overall, the Nissan Qashqai SUV, is being given a midlife facelift which has been spied in testing for the first time in the latest images. The update will aim to keep it fresh against an ever-increasing swathe of rivals such as the Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson and Honda CR-V to name just a few.
In the latest spy shots the new Nissan Qashqai can be seen heavily camouflaged, with most of the front and rear fascias obscured by a dazzle pattern, so we can expect at least a minor update to the car’s looks.
The rear lights are covered in camouflage that extends across the entire width of the car, and it’s unclear whether the rear lights could now feature a full length light bar – as is very fashionable at present – or merely sport a new light signature.
An exhaust pipe at the rear confirms this isn’t an all-electric Qashqai that could be in the works, and that the updated model will continue to be offered with a combustion engine.
The current Qashqai comes with the choice of a 1.3-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine with 138bhp, or an e-Power model which uses a 1.5-litre engine to charge a 158bhp electric motor. These are expected to remain for the facelifted model, too.
A price hike is expected for the updated Qashqai, with the current entry-level Visia model’s £27,120 price tag expected to increase to around £30,000. These details are yet to be confirmed, however.
