Renault Kadjar updated for 2022
Renault streamlines Kadjar range before it replaces the car with the new Austral
- Two trim levels now available: Equilibre and Techno
- Only offered with 1.3-litre petrol engine
- On sale now from £25,595
Renault has overhauled the Kadjar range for 2022 as the car enters its final months on sale. Two new trim levels called Equilibre and Techno have replaced the existing Renault Kadjar trim levels and offer a higher level of standard equipment than before. This comes after Renault announced that the Kadjar will be replaced by the new Austral next year.
The Equilibre is the new entry-level model and starts at £25,595. This model comes with the seven-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Safety features include lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, plus a rear-view camera.
Range-topping Kadjar Techno models add part-synthetic leather seats, full LED headlights with automatic high beam and plenty of other safety equipment, including blind-spot warning and automatic emergency braking.
The Equilibre and Techno are distinguished from the previous trim levels by contrasting black wing mirrors. Equilibre cars come with new 17-inch alloy wheels, while Techno models sit on 19-inch diamond-cut versions.
The engine range has also been slimmed down; buyers now only have the option of a 1.3-litre TCe turbocharged petrol engine. This has 138bhp and is offered with a choice of a manual or a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The two new trims represent ‘a final hurrah’ for the Kadjar and are designed to tempt people into buying the aging car by offering extra standard equipment. The Kadjar will be withdrawn from sale next year when it’s replaced by the new Austral SUV. The Austral will share its underpinnings with the larger Nissan Qashqai, thanks to an agreement between Renault and Nissan. Like the Kadjar, the Austral will be offered with a conventional petrol engine, though ‘self-charging’ and plug-in hybrid powertrains may also be made available.
