Hot car deal: Renault Scenic E-Tech for £320 per month – just a great family car
A superb all-electric SUV that’s perfectly set up for family life – the Renault Scenic for £320 per month
If you’re after a practical, well-equipped family car then the latest, all-electric Renault Scenic could be a really smart move. While some might feel the time’s not quite right for a battery-powered car, the Scenic’s EV powertrain is a true highlight, delivering a useful driving range, rapid charging ability and impressive efficiency. But that’s not all the Scenic has to offer the modern family – far from it, in fact. With generous equipment levels, a spacious cabin and a comfortable ride, the French SUV delivers across the board, also working in clever features that help to make it a successful family car.
We think this two-year personal leasing deal from Nationwide Vehicle Contracts represents good value, with a reasonable initial deposit and fixed monthly payments of £319.98.
Offered in entry Techno specification, this particular Scenic model still comes with a lot of standard equipment, including 19-inch alloys, adaptive cruise control, front and rear park assist, a rear-view camera, dual-zone climate control, a heating function for the front seats and steering wheel, a power tailgate, and Renault’s openR link multimedia system with a 12-inch display.
This is a Scenic Long Range model, which means it uses a larger 87kWh battery, instead of the entry car’s 60kWh version. All cars are front-wheel drive, and primarily set up for comfort over any real performance, but the 215bhp you get with the Long Range car is still good for a 7.9-second sprint from 0-62mph. The Long Range moniker also ensures you’ll benefit from up to 379 miles of all-electric driving before having to stop and recharge.
While most EV owners will look to take advantage of low energy tariffs by charging at home, it’s reassuring to know that the Scenic has rapid charging capability (up to 150kW) for when you need to stop on longer journeys – taking the battery from 15 to 80% in around 37 minutes.
Renault clearly maintained a laser focus during the design phase of its Scenic SUV, because it’s supremely competent across so many areas that are important to family buyers. That spacious cabin is joined by a sizable boot and lots of usable tech which knits together a very appealing package. Renault wants its customers to think of the Scenic as a family car first and foremost, which just so happens to be electric – we think it’s succeeded.
