Audis are known to instill confidence in you with their superb handling; their amazing engines and their infamous 4 wheel drive system. The car was on a test drive (long weekend) and I can honestly say that I was not impressed. Don't get me wrong - the car looked beautiful but: Every bump in the road; every dip was felt - it was not a comfortable drive from Dover to Tenterden via the A259. The infamous quattro 4 wheel drive was not in this car; a 3 litre tdi £45k car and it was 2 wheel drive and you knew it. The engine was too refined. As a 3 litre V6 diesel you do expect some engine note, something to signify that you have a 204bhp engine under the bonnet - but there was nothing - it felt somewhat muted; almost stifled. Would I an Audi; Yes - but not this one.

Great car. I am very happy with his purchase. Great quality performance inside and outside. Very fast and agile. Great holding on to the road. I'm glad I bought version with automatic transmission. Definitely better than BMW 3. I would definitely recommend this version of the engine to anyone who's likes to have fun. I am in heaven while driving.

I've had 2 Mercedes S320s, a Mercedes CLS, BMW320i, Jag XJ, Jag' X-type etc etc. My A5 is up there as nearly my favourite car. Great fun drive, drives like it's on rails. Great power when you need it; F1 controls pointless tho' just drop it into 'Sport'; far easier and quicker? A few negative points but I'd still buy another one. - Minor Electrical snags, no cruise control (seriously, why not as standard on a £40k car?), drivers seat not the comfiest, rear leg room useless. Local Dealer useless. Despite that I love the car. So much I've kept it over 2 years; a personal best for me and no real plans to change. Not a patch on the luxury of the S class/XJ but back to old school driving fun like the cars of the '80s without the burning oil smell! Buy the bigger engine and be a boy racer again!? (With the comforts we all need at 40+).

Definitely better than BMW 3 (owned 2007-boring!!) I would definitely recommend this version of the engine to anyone who's likes to have fun. I'm in heaven while driving. ;-) In my opinion version before facelift looks better, more aggressive. Facelift model is still nice but has no character. And who cares about rear seats in the type of car like this??!!

Overall extremely pleased with quality, looks, economy and performance. But two niggly things about the windows, water running off roof into car when windows open and windows freezing shut in cold weather making it impossible to open / close the doors!

Having had 5 tt's i chose the a5 for similar looks and style whilst going from a v6 3.2 dsg to a 2.0l diesel for fuel economy, we also have another tt in the family so i have the best of both worlds. I would choose maybe an allroad a4 next time as the a5 is poor in the snow and we get plenty, i have snow tyres on which greatly improves it though. Overall the car is very good, gets good comments from onlookers and does the job well, i'm a photogtapher and carry equipment in it.

Spent a lot of time deciding between a BMW 335d and the A5. Eventually chose the A5 as we already have a BMW in the household and thought 4WD would be handy in bad weather. Bad move. Car has spent more time in various garages since i have bought it than it has on my drive. Issues include: DPF filter Manifold Lights Winding mechanism on window.... When the car is in working order, whilst i wouldn't describe it as being as good a drive as a BMW I would say its rewarding with the lack of body roll being a real positive. Whilst it is slow off the line once moving it really pulls.

Before I purchased this car (if I can call it a car.) I've checked it, HPI and Audi Dealer Health Check. Paid 160£ for it (so far so good)... In last 4 weeks while I was in holiday by car true Europe the following broke down: cable for the electric driver window 225£ part + 2 h labour cost , after 8 days while I was in Italy was raining and a laud skylight take place all MMI went dead right away (no navigation, oil check, media etc) after 2 days went to the dealer the verdict was the BUS INTERFACE burn off 350euros for the part + 2 h labour cost, after 5 days and 1500 km we reach East of Europe and the car while driving just stopped with no engine light flashing or lit on, after several attempts the car still won't start call a local garage the verdict after few days the distribution chain tensioner broke into pieces and probably u know the verdict thousands of £ in repair bills... all this happened in last 4 weeks... contacted the local Audi dealer and UK and they would not be able to help as the car is off warranty (2 years offer by audi) + u can extend it up to 5 years (is not my case) the car is from 2008 JUL 130 k on board now ... I also contacted Audi manufacturer in Germany and wait for "miracle" as have paid for gold and they sell me peanuts. This is my tragic experience with AUDI A5. A ruined holiday, lots of stress, money spent on phone call, hotels, taxis etc just because I have trusted Audi Brand (big mistake) I left the car in East of Europe and return to Jersey by the plane for extra 800£ ( 2 tickets)... AUDI cannot stand UP BEHIND THEIR BRAND... I AM DISGUSTED... By the way the insurance (including travel insurance) it won't pay for the repair... I will better purchase a Chinese Audi copy for 30 % of the original price and probably it will last longer... MAY I ASK WHERE IS THE GERMAN QUALITY???? THE ANSWER IS A MYTH.

It is a superb blend of speed, excitement, economy, practicality and comfort. It is the convertible version and is very refined with the roof up or down and a brilliant long distance cruiser. Importantly for me it is also a car that my wife approves of (sort of) and the kids also love!

Fast, supremely comfortable and quite on motorways and can carry 3 people with 3 snowboards and kit with easy. It's just a shame that when the electric windows broke 2 months outside the waranty, audi felt the need to charge £1180 to have it repaired.

It's a fantastic sports coupe but not a sports car. Design is superb but could have been put together better as many of us complain of rattles. One problem i have that lets the car down as that there is a steering wheel vibration between 65-70mph, audi uk will not acknowledge this as a a fault despite audi us having a technical bulletin on the matter, very poor customer services, they're just lucky it doesn't detract from the overall experience or i'd take the matter further!

I expected better reliability from a premium brand the engine has been trouble and is rough at idle. The dealer tells me they have compared it to another a5 but that tells me all of the petrol engines are like tractors. Oil consumption is also very high which is surprising.

Lovely car, good performance and economy. It is really a 2 seater, with 2 seats in the back not suited for adults. The back seats fold down to allow 2 people to carry a lot.

For me the audi a5 is perfect. It is big enough to take 4 adults in reasonable comfort and can be driven quite hard. the quattro system was a godsend in the snow and ice.

Looks are drop dead gorgeous, acceleration is incredible for a diesel car, and the build quality is 2nd to none, especially the interior. My only regret in hindsight is that i didn't buy an automatic, because when you accelerate hard, the rev band is so narrow that you bounce off the rev limiter in 1st and 2nd gear because you can't change gear quick enough before you hit a wall of revs.

I was lucky enough to be in a position to choose which car I liked, from all marques, and most models within reason (A8, or 6 series just out of grasp, but anything in between was game). I decided after many months of research (which drove my missus mental!) that I really only had 2 choices that ticked all the boxes for me - the main ones being style and economy. As I have no kids, and no real desire to carry proper sized people around, the obvious choice was to look at coupé styles, and boiled it down to either the BMW 4 series, or the A5. Both stunning cars, both lauded as being excellent over distance as well as looking great. What swayed me in the end was personal preference. I decided that the A5 was just more 'grown up' than the BMW, and *just* edged it in looks in my opinion. I specced a Dakota Grey Quattro Black Edition, Tech Pack High, Folding mirrors and Alcantara seats on top of the standard goodies - 19" wheels, black detailing around the grill and Bang and Olufsen speakers and am more than happy with the look and handling of the car. Here are the only flies so far - 1. The MPG at 48 is poor. I was getting more in my old Volvo, and my driving style has not altered. 2. The speakers, although great quality sounding, rattle. This drives me INSANE. I'm not anal, but you pay as much as you need to for one of these, you expect the screws to be done up. 3. The boot that has a 'specially designed recess' to allow golf clubs to sit parallel to the rear of the car, doesn't have an opening large enough to fit anything remotely bulky. 4. The bloody fog lights are the old style incandescent lamps, meaning that my lovely blue LED light surround, and stylish blue/white xenon headlamps are tarnished by a horrible 'old school' yellow underneath. COME ON AUDI! At least fit white lamps! The pros- 1. The car is STUNNING to look at. You get guys and gals ogling it as it slips past them. 2. The ride is very comfy, and it eats up the miles with ease (10k miles in 4 months is testament to that) 3. The in built MMI and AMI controls are very easy to use. They are intuitive and sensibly placed. 4. All my mates and work colleagues are very jealous of my awesome car - to which I point out that if they hadn't done the whole 'grown up with kids' thing, they could have one too... They loved hearing that, but don't call as often as they used to... My advice then, is if you're looking for a great all rounder, with great looks, easy distance coverage that looks great and never, ever leaves you feeling ashamed of it in the car parks, that people comment on how nice it looks then get either an A5 or a 4 Series.

So far this car has lived entirely up to my expectations. Fuel economy even with the 3 litre engine is higher than my previous 2 litre car which itself was reasonable. Performance, ride and handling are superb even if the ride is firm as can only be expected with s-line specification running gear. Finish and trim are to a high specification, with no little niggles, rattles or squeaks. My only real reservation upon buying the car was how quickly the price is racked up by the addition of optional extras. Overall i have no regrets during my first 16,500 miles and am more than happy with the car. Plus it looks brilliant and is the first car i have had which draws second glances!!
