Audi A7 hatchback (2011-2017): owner reviews

“The Audi A7 has the appearance of a low-slung coupe, but look more closely and it’s a spacious five-door executive car”

This car does not disappoint! Powerful, roomy and very stylish. Driving this car is a dream, 150-mile trip and you're still fresh as the moment you got in. After over 2 years I still love it. I used to change my car every year, but not since the A7. MPG's not as good as expected but everything else makes up for it. Best I've managed is 52 on a tank, 85% motorway. Daily I'm getting 34-38. If you're thinking about getting one, do it. You will love it, along with everyone that gets in it.

Bought this car on a bit of whim, went to the Audi garage to see an Audi S5, the A7 was parked next to it. Got in the S5 thought it was good, liked it. Just for comparison purposes asked to see the A7 the dealer rep looked at me and said I'll put the S5 keys away then, when I asked why, he said "You'll see why in a minute." Got the keys, got inside and was blown away the space in the car, compared to the S5 was massive. The car just seemed to wrap around me, and like a puppy looking for a new home said "Take me home please." Went for a test drive thought the car was so smooth everything control wise was where you thought it should, be without having to thinking where it should be! No noise in the cabin only noise from the traffic outside. Ride as I said was phenomenally smooth, was asked to slow down by the sales rep, didn't know I was going that fast! Already seen the Merc CLS and the BMW 6 Grand Tourer, wasn't really impressed be either. The A7 was in a completely different class though, so I decided to get one, but which one? Got the 'S' line 272 black special edition with a couple of extras, lighting pack, tech plus with HUD, folding mirrors (crazy folding mirrors an extra on a 60 grand car!) I'm now a very happy driver, so I keep my licence I have set the speed warning at 90mhp (which because of the ride and noise level feels like 60mph). This car is an absolute joy to drive and I can't stop smiling when I'm walking out to drive it. Get used to some strange looks, as other people will grow to hate your smug grin while your driving this car. If someone really annoys you and you have to kill them, there is plenty of space in the boot for the body. The look of the car is like Marmite to some people, I love it, it just looks great on my drive way, in the carpark,on the road. If you have any doubts about the looks, park it up and stand back and watch other people walk past it craning their necks. I have rediscovered my inner youth, if only in my own head, this car has made me very happy, I didn't think cars could do that, this one has.

Car is so easy to drive and so comfortable. Allows for fun driving and handles so well on country roads. Very practical and holds its luggage well. Even fully loaded the engine does not feel as though it's struggling.

Stunning car to look at and drive, a real head turner. Very good economy and very comfortable - the cabin is the lap of luxury. Boot is very capacious and yes the end is a little shallow in terms of height but then it would look as grotesque as the BMW GT if it was any higher. Plenty of legroom in the rear and no headroom problems for a 6' gentleman. Given that the Black Edition has lowered suspension and 21" rims, the ride is surprisingly smooth over all but the roughest of surface. More than enough power at 0-60 in a shade over 6 seconds and no unexpected scary moments with the sure-footedness of Audi's excellent Quattro 4wd system couples with the 7-speed S-Tronic gearbox. Multimedia/Navigation system is easy to use and intuitive though can be a bit overwhelming initially. Technology delivered as standard is fantastic but why, on a car that costs £55k+, are the wing mirrors not motorised? That's my one and only gripe. Heads-up display a real boon. Lovely sounds with standard Bose system. Marvelous interior and exterior lighting system such as lights under the outside door handles so you can see what you are stepping on when you get out. This car has a lot of presence on the road. It looks like no other car out there and you don't see them that often on the road. I wear a big grin on my face every time I drive this car.

Excellent car, so much so I have just ordered a new facelift. Need quattro if you require any more power as the tyres really do struggle in the wet when the wear gets lower. Multitronic is seamless and although not sporty unless in S mode, it is extremely comfortable with no notice of gear changes. Reliability has been excellent as you would expect, services do not cost as much I thought. Last one less than £200.... interior is nothing like anything out there, quality and looks wise (especially at night). Ride is firm and annoying at times on our horrendous roads but I do have S Line spec with 20" alloys so its no surprise. Get SE spec if you want a comfier ride. Best thing is you don't look the same as everyone else out there in their A4/A6/3 Series/5 Series etc. Highly recommend.

Brisk, plenty of torque combined with brillant multitronic (8 speed) gearbox. Very quiet and effortless, plush ride. Comfort plus lots of toys, drive select modes, heated seats, keyless ignition, etc. I was amazed by the economy, better than both my previous Audi A4 2.0 Tdi (143) Auto (2010 model) and A6 2.7 Tdi (180) Auto (2008 Le-Mans), around 49mpg on a run.

Having a nightmare with my new Audi A7. Picked it up new from UK Audi dealership and it has been in for repairs 3 times already. I have had it only 6 months and it has travelled 3,700 miles. The main issue is alarm going off apparently due to a wiring fault - it constantly goes off. Audi have yet to fix despite having the car in total nearly 20 working days since I bought it. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
