Having bought one after reading good reviews, i thought I was in for a treat. It was only 2 years old and had 30,000 miles on the clock. After 3 days I found that the brakes were not working correctly and caused the car to swerve if braking from motorway speeds. I found that handbrake would not hold the car on an incline, but I put these issues down to wear and tear. I found that when accelerating, once the turbo kicked in, it would sometimes cut out and I would lose boost for around 2-3 seconds and there was a loud whistling sound when this happened. After 10 days of use, the alternator belt and pulley detached whilst driving at 60mph, there was an almighty bang. Inspection found internal engine damage and damage to the transmission. It was clear that the previous owner had ragged this car, but given that it still hadn’t had its first MOT and only 3 services proved that it cannot stand any punishment...which is not ideal for what is meant to be a hot hatchback.
