Mercedes S-Class saloon - Practicality & boot space (2013-2020)
The Mercedes S-Class is a very big car, so there’s plenty of space inside
Make no mistake: whichever version of the S-Class you go for, you won’t be complaining about a lack of interior space. Luxury limos like the S-Class are always judged on how much space they give to rear-seat passengers and the only question you need to ask yourself here is just how much do you need?
Mercedes S-Class interior space & storage
The standard wheelbase model has loads of head and legroom in the back, while in the long-wheelbase model you’re able to stretch out to your heart’s content. If that’s not enough for you – and we can’t really see how it wouldn’t be – there’s also the extra-long-wheelbase Mercedes-Maybach, which probably has more space in its back seats alone than many city cars have overall.
The driver is important, too, though: they won’t feel like an afterthought. The front seats are impeccably comfortable and come with a seemingly endless amount of adjustment – as does the steering wheel – so finding the perfect driving position is a cinch.
Boot space
Boot capacity in the S-Class depends on which combination of engine and wheelbase you choose. It mostly hovers around the 500-litre mark, with the long-wheelbase S450 and S500 topping the range at 530 litres. The long-wheelbase S560e plug-in hybrid comes last, with just 395 litres due to the presence of batteries and electric motors. All three of the diesel models, and the S63 long-wheelbase models offer 510 litres of boot space.
