The Renault Megane RS only sacrifices a little practicality at the altar of performance
The Megane is a more recent design than many of its rivals, and is near the top of the class when it comes to packaging. This means space utilisation is good for both passengers and their possessions, and the Renaultsport does little to dilute this practicality.

While those in the front benefit from the comfort and support of deeply contoured bucket seats, their extra depth detracts from rear legroom – adult passengers may have to splay their knees little on a long journey. On the plus side, the Megane RS beats the Civic Type R by offering rear seats for three, but the central occupant won't want to travel all that far.
Headroom is pretty generous wherever you sit, though, and the square-backed Megane has a fairly upright rear end that allows for a relatively constant roofline rather than plunging downwards like some rivals.
Boot space
A sporting demeanor hasn't robbed the Megane RS of boot space, which remains at 434 litres. That's quite a bit more than you'll find in the 380-litre Golf GTI.
If you need to carry something bulky, folding the rear seats frees up 1,247 litres of, which is slightly overtaken by the 1,270-litre Golf. The luggage compartment itself is usefully shaped, but the boot lip is quite high – and that could make loading heavy items rather awkward.
