Toyota Auris Hybrid (2013-2019) - Reliability & safety
These are two of the Auris’ biggest strengths and the latter has been further improved with the addition of more safety technology
Toyota has always enjoyed a strong reputation for reliability and has built up an enviable following with a fiercely loyal customer base. Safety is a Toyota strong suit, too: most Auris Hybrid trim levels have the Toyota Safety Sense package as standard equipment.
Toyota Auris Hybrid reliability
In our 2017 Driver Power owner satisfaction survey, Toyota was voted into 11th place overall out of 27 brands looked at. Owners weren't exactly overwhelmed by the engines, acceleration or handling of their cars and the brand only achieved a 19th-place score for interior design and comfort.
Importantly, though, the brand was ranked eighth for reliability. The Auris maintained that positive reputation and was rated well above average for reliability and build quality: only 9.4% of owners reported one or more faults within the first year.
Safety
Owners can find reassurance in the five-star rating Euro NCAP awarded the Auris after stringent independent crash testing. All models boast seven airbags and all the mandatory safety kit including stability control and anti-lock brakes.
More impressive, though, is that all versions feature the Toyota Safety Sense package, the main benefit of which is autonomous emergency braking. It also includes traffic-sign recognition, lane-departure warning and auto-dipping headlights.
