The golf gtd is built like a tank , great road presence , mpg about 48 in normal mode. Interior quality is second to none , boot a little on the small side but saying that I had an Astra GTC before which had a carniverous boot , so I may be being picky. My girlfriend has a poli gti which is very quick but the gtd is nearly on par with the gti. Would recommend the gtd if you want to feel like your driving something a little more substantial . The great thing about the golf gtd is that other drivers stay behind you , rather than trying to make you get in a race because the car looks quicker than it actually is , mines a 3 door . Great car , would recommend.

I have had this car for almost three years ans over 47k miles. The only fault was intermittent behaviour of the front radar detector. This was replaced on warranty 18 months ago and the new one has performed perfectly. I have driven this car to Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg (cheap diesel !), France, Switzerland,] and Italy, both in summer and winter. It sailed over the Gottard pass (twice), and many other Alpine passes - including the Stelvio, Furka, Oberalp, Fleula and Simplon. It cruised at 130 mphon the German autobhans with no problem (thw carwould have easily gone a lot faster). A genuine 'grand tourer'. The seats are perfect for long-distance work. Steady 80 mph on continental motorways at 50 mpg is common. It does have the DCC extra and the Discover Pro Sat Nav (very good in all ways). Would I buy another? Certainly. It is difficult to imagine a better car that would give this combination of comfort, speed and economy.

I received the car 2 months ago and it has great features, is really good looking and very quick. MPG was quite a way under the documented figures but the power and fun made up for that. After one week the infotainment system crashed and wouldn't restart. Two months later and VW are yet to come up with a solution, haven't offered me a new vehicle or a courtesy car so I'm effectively driving round in a car with no stereo, sat nav, Bluetooth, parking sensors, I can't change the car out of eco mode and the anti-collision software keeps activating... a major safety issue. It's a lovely car when working but will never deal with VW again and if I don't receive compensation I will continue to share my feelings with the entire motor industry.

My old car was a 2011 2L GT bluemotion 140BHP golf that regulary returned a average of 60mpg and on a long motorway journeys 70 upwards. Im not expecting my 5 year newer GTD with more power to beat my old car, but it would be nice to get something like what they say! I'm actually getting 35-40mpg on short and 50-55 on long! I'm a month and 1,200 miles into its ownership but worried VW have messed up the Golfs MPG trying to get the emissions sorted!

This car is great, not as dynamic as the GTI but consumption is better. DCC is a must but nothing else is needed in this version. For me, the best Golf ever.

I think this new gtd is a fantastic car. The power is instant and also very easy on diesel. I'm very very pleased with it. I strongly recommend anyone buying a new car to buy one of these cars. Absolutely brilliant !!!

I have covered 45000 miles in just under 3 years in a faultless car that is very comfortable and great fun to drive. It's a 5 door GTD DSG in Mars Red, was bought at 3 months old as an ex demo with 3000 miles on the clock. Excellent main dealer service and a great all round car both sporty and economical its understated looks are part of the attraction for me. Car road noise was improved significantly when its factory fitted Bridgestone tyres were replaced with Goodyears at 40,000 miles.
