Skoda Octavia vRS hatchback - Practicality & boot space (2013-2021)
The Skoda Octavia vRS doesn’t compromise practicality and is just as spacious as the standard car
As fast family cars go, the Skoda Octavia vRS takes some beating. The boot is massive and there’s more passenger room on offer than in the Volkswagen Golf or SEAT Leon.
Skoda Octavia vRS interior space & storage
With lots of adjustment in the steering wheel, comfortable seats and lots of space, the vRS has a good driving position. Big door pockets and a good-sized glovebox mean there’s plenty of storage inside, and there’s even better news in the back. There’s more than enough leg and headroom for adults to sit comfortably, although the car’s big transmission tunnel makes the middle rear seat a little uncomfortable for adults, as there’s nowhere to put your feet.
Boot space
The Skoda Octavia has a huge 590-litre boot, which is even more impressive when you consider the Volkswagen Golf only has a 380-litre luggage capacity. The wide opening of the Octavia’s hatch makes it easy to load large items in and with the rear seats folded there’s a vast 1,580 litres space to use.
You can also add the same handy features available on more basic Octavias to your vRS, including a reversible boot floor that has a wipe-clean side for carrying things like muddy boots or damp family dogs. There’s also an optional parking aid that can select a large enough parking space for the car and turn the steering wheel for you when parking, leaving you to just operate the pedals.
Towing
Octavias are a popular choice for towing caravans or trailers. With lots of power and – particularly in the case of the diesel – plenty of low-rev shove, the vRS is a good tow car. It’ll pull 1,800kg of braked caravan or trailer, while Skoda also offers a tow bar with an electrical adaptor as an optional extra. The four-wheel-drive diesel vRS is capable of towing 2,000kg.
