The Toyota Corolla Cross SUV is coming to the UK

• Sits between C-HR and RAV4 in lineup
• Only available as 198bhp hybrid
• On sale in late 2022

The Toyota Corolla Cross family SUV will be coming to the UK in 2022. Already on sale in the US, this new addition to the Toyota lineup will sit alongside the stylish Toyota C-HR as a more rugged and spacious alternative. 

The Corolla Cross is due to arrive in UK showrooms in the second half of 2022 and we expect it to be priced somewhere between the C-HR and the larger RAV4 at around £29,000. This will make the new Toyota a more direct rival for other family-oriented SUVs such as the Nissan Qashqai and Hyundai Tucson.

While the Toyota Corolla Cross has been on sale in the US for a while now, Toyota has tweaked the design to appeal to ‘European tastes’. This includes a new black front grille and a revised front and rear headlight design.

As you can see, the Corolla Cross is much boxier than the C-HR. The car’s wheel arches feature angular cladding, similar to that on the RAV4. At 4.46m in length, the Corolla Cross is slightly larger than several of its rivals and it sits on the same TNGA platform as other Toyota SUVs.

The interior design is reminiscent of a high-spec Toyota Corolla hatchback. This includes faux leather trim on the dashboard and separate dials for the climate controls. European-spec cars will also feature an exclusive infotainment system setup consisting of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster alongside a 10.5-inch central touchscreen. This is able to receive over-the-air updates and includes features such as wireless phone charging.

In the UK, the Toyota Corolla Cross will only be offered with Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid powertrain. This consists of a 2.0-litre petrol engine mated to a front-mounted electric motor that together produce 198bhp. The option of four-wheel-drive will also be available for extra grip but it won’t come with any more power.
