Vauxhall Corsa crowned 2023 Carbuyer Used Car of the Year
Vauxhall’s supermini also snagged the title of Best Small Used Car at Carbuyer’s 2023 Best Used Car Awards
The Vauxhall Corsa has been named the Carbuyer Used Car of the Year for 2023. This year’s winner was announced as part of our annual Carbuyer Best Used Car Awards, with Vauxhall’s best-selling supermini also taking the title of Best Small Used Car.

Pinching the crown once worn by the Ford Fiesta, the Carbuyer team were impressed by the sixth-generation Vauxhall Corsa’s tech-filled interior, refined driving experience, and wide array of powertrains. Carbuyer Editor, Richard Ingram, said: “For much the same reason we heaped so much praise on the Kia Niro in our new car awards, the Vauxhall Corsa comes away with not one but two wins in our used-car rundown. It all comes down to choice; petrol, diesel or electric.
“The Vauxhall Corsa is the UK’s best-selling new car year-to-date, but it makes an even better used buy. Whichever version you go for, the Corsa is practical, good to drive and cheap to run. Our Best Used Small Car and our overall Used Car of the Year, the Corsa represents great value for money.”
The Corsa was not the only Vauxhall model to walk away with an award this year; the Vauxhall Insignia was awarded the title of Best Used Family Car.
Just like during our 2023 Best New Car Awards, Skoda and Kia were also strong finishers, with both brands taking home two awards. The former topped our list for Best Used Large Family Car and Best Used Estate Car – for the Kodiaq and Superb respectively. The Kia Ceed won Best Used Small Family Car, and the outgoing Kia e-Niro took the Best Used Family Electric Car.
Toyota was another brand to walk away with two trophies. The Toyota Prius won Best Used Hybrid, while the Toyota Hilux was our Best Used Pickup.
BMW and sister brand MINI took one category win each. The forward-thinking BMW i3 was awarded Best Used Small Electric Car, while the MINI Convertible – fresh from its success at the new car awards – was lauded as our Best Used Convertible.
Other trophies included Best Used Sports Car for the Mazda MX-5, Best Used Hot Hatchback for the Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk7.5, and Best Used Hot SUV for the Porsche Macan – each for the second year in a row.
As well as Porsche and BMW, premium players Jaguar and Mercedes enjoyed praise at our Used Car Awards; the Jaguar I-Pace took Best Used Large Electric Car, while the Mercedes E-Class took Best Used Plug-in Hybrid.
